I think this is the first 5167 I've seen on here; what do you think of it? I've sometimes considered saving up for one and putting a leather strap on my 5065 and saving that piece for dress (as it's slimmer and, in my experience, a bit on the delicate side for a watch with its specs).

By the way, which model's bracelet did you use to upgrade your Exp. II polar?

I love the 5167. Featherlight and slips under the radar

Got sub c glidelock clasps on all my watches

Nice; did you swap out the bracelets on all of the pieces or just retrofit the clasp?

And of course, my contribution (including a "wrist shot"). Sorry for the poor photography; just in case it isn't clear, the vintage pieces are AP (pocket watch) and Movados (both with and without strap). The cufflinks are the only Timex pieces in my collection ;).

nice collection. from inspection (band wear) it looks as though your IWC sees a lot of wrist time. is this true?

which of your watches sees the most wear? i'm keen on the new MK XVII

i've fitted both Sub C clasps and bracelets to my older watches. best of both worlds!

On the Exp 2 in the pics, I've just fitted a Sub C clasp.

I've also fitted Sub C clasps to some of my vintage pieces which some might find is complete insanity

think of it as a vintage car with a bang & olufsen stereo

Man, I agree with that... I swapped the glidelock bracelet from my LVC to my new black-bezeled LV and IMO it just perfected the watch. So a new bracelet should arrive in the next few days with about half the cost covered by selling the LV's 93250 bracelet (for which there definitely seems to be a market...)

I wish I could do the same to my 14060M...

My Explorer II actually sees the most wrist time. I'd say that my Patek and IWC are tied for 2nd. Unfortunately, IWC's straps are a bit on the delicate side and I'm rather disappointed with the switch from the buffalo/deployment combo on the Mk. XV to the embossed calf (I think)/tang combo on the Mk. XVI.

As for the XVII, do you know whether it has a new in-house movement or if it still uses a modified ETA?

it will still use a modified ETA. price point should be ~$6,500

i agree the deployment buckle is a lot easier to slip on and off it also makes the leather last longer. the Portgueuse comes with both deployment and regular leather band options so it is unusual that IWC don't offer the same for the Pilot.

i have only seen the XVII with the regular leather band but hopefully they create a deployment band option.

Wow I have watch envy,I assume that comment will make it through the censors. I went through all 14 pages just some amazing watches. There is certainly some commonality it seems most Rolex forum members have 75% of their collections as Rolex and 25% as others. I am only a junior collector 18 months in, but I think I will probably go the other way and have a few Rolex and try to collect one from most of the bespoke makers. Who knows perhaps Breguet is next......

Luckily my taste is better than my camera skills.

I wouldn't count on the deployment option necessarily; IWC seems to be going for more and more pin buckles. The MK XV had a deployment and in reality I wish I'd decided to get an IWC pilot a few years earlier when those were plentiful. Next time I need a strap I'm contemplating having one made and if/when I do that I'm thinking of also ordering the Portofino's deployment to fit to it.

My personal opinion is that, if the XVII is going to use a modified ETA, just go for the XVI. I like its less complicated dial and don't think that one needed to grow by an extra mm. If you want a larger, more complex looking IWC pilot then my advice would be to look into the new World Time; that's a cool looking watch!
