Was gifted a 5513 when I was 22. For 10 years it never left my wrist for anything other than a shower cleaning or a security requirement.

31 years old, around two weeks after the birth of my biggest accomplishment so far, my son. Two-tone 16013 Datejust with a not so period correct but beautiful silver/champagne tapestry dial.

Bought a datejust 116234 for my father when I was 46 and after 10 months he returns it to me because it was not legible for his aging eyes. He wanted my BlackBay Blue instead so technically…I was 46 and change when I got my first Rolex.

Then on 10/11 of this year, I finally got the call from the AD for my two tone submariner at the age of 48. Best feeling in the world to attain a grail I never thought I would.

I was 19 in the 1990s and paid $800 for an SS OP with an Engine-Turned Bezel from Gray & Sons (Coconut Grove, FL.) My dad thought I was crazy and teased me about it all the time. I traded it in for a TT DJ 34 in 1999 at Gray & Sons again.

Technically my first was when I was 22 (decades ago) when I bought my father a rolex explorer as MY graduation gift to him (I paid $275). He had helped me in lots of ways up to then, so it was my thanks to him. Dad passed 25 yrs ago, so I got it back from my step mother at that time - but I did not wear it (not sure I can explain why). I ended up selling it after lots of thought, and bought a 16610LN "from him"- which I wear a lot as it has that sentimental feeling to it for me (it is currently getting serviced). That started the heightened rolex interest that continues to this day.

I don’t remember when I first bought a Rolex. I think I 45? Maybe. I made my second Rolex purchase at 49. I made my most recent Rolex purchase at 53. The first two were for my wife. Yesterday’s most recent purchase was for my 17 year old daughter. I have yet to purchase a Rolex for myself. We’ll see if I ever do.
