One of my all time favourite Rolex watches, although I seldom wear it, due to it's size - wear my DSSD - other side of the spectrum.

Sorry for the delay
When you put up this query, I was getting the blue AK now in my avatar, but didn't yet have it, and then took some time to look around for strap options. In the end, I took the easy route and duplicated the ColaReb strap in blue, because I think the grey ColaReb on my silver dialed AK is dynamite. I think it came out rather well in blue as well, and fits in nicely with my bracelet-stretch-prevention program for both. I've thought about a blue lizard, croc, or alligator strap, but really feel that I would rather dress the watch down rather than up. For dress up, I'll put the bracelet back on. If you do get that blue alligator strap, please be sure to post a pic.

Welcome to the club. That is an uncommon dial too. Don't see as many of those as the blue/orange. Your dial is probably my favorite on the AK

The only Air King I would remotely be interested in owning is the Domino's Pizza dialled version. This model is just waaaaaaaaay to small for my large wrists. This model is just too soft and I would consider it a ladies watch by today's standard.

Do you know the history behind the Domino Pizza Air King? Was it a company award or something?

Yes, along with dozens of other companies. Off the top of my head, co-branded AK award watches included, GO Transport, Pool Intairdril, Wesbanco, Winn Dixie just to name a few

There was some dust in the dial, so I took it to the local jeweler and he offered to swap the dial for me. It's the same dial as the one I had before except this one has numbers and it's flawless. Still a dang hair in there though.

This is my wife's Air King. She loves it! I would take it out my self if I didn't have to size it up two links to fit me.

I think they were in the catalog from 2007 to about 2009 or 2010. The orange accented dials that is.

can any one tell me if the Air King 5500 was around prior to 1957 . i have just purchased this model and am trying to date it. there seems to be discrepancy between serial number dating systems. Mine is a super precision 1530

Got a photo and serial number? Rolex rebooted the serial numbering system in the mid 1950s, that's probably the cause of your confusion.

1957 is the year the 5500 came amongst us. The reference before that was the 6552 and it looked very similar to the early 5500. Show us a picture of the dial and give us the serial number and we'll sort you out.
