Sorry, it will not happen. My family and friends, REAL friends are ALWAYS first.

Well, you let a cat out of the bag without providing any proof but pure gossip, so you should'nt bitch if being challenged.

Your post did not help anything except create more speculation. It will not affect one bit my decision to hold, buy or sell Rolex, much less chase expensive watches.

Respected, Trustworthy, honest.... And probably correct - by way of smart deductive reasoning. But, I don't think Rolex will share their strategy. We'll never see this letter before the ADs.

One of my favorite leadership quotes from the Godfather: “Never tell anyone outside the Family what you are thinking.”

Regardless, it's probably true.

Hear, hear. I confess I have been on a Downton Abbey binge lately but I really do think people with low post counts should not be allowed to address people with high post counts. It's all so terribly unseemly, what, what.

Unless they raise prices significantly... they make less money? Right. Why would any company do that?

“Should not be allowed” ??

Everyone should be able to express their opinions freely without worrying being bullied. Intelligence doesn’t come with the ‘number of post counts’. If you don’t like someone else’s opinion you can challenge it respectfully or else, move on. Like everyone else does.

It doesn't make sense to me that Rolex would alter their production to make Tudor more attractive to buyers.

Tudor makes some very nice watches and I happen to own four of them, but those who can't find the Rolex they want aren't necessarily going to buy a Tudor to fill the void.

In the minds of many, including many members here, Tudor is a second-fiddle brand and regardless of how good they are, someone looking for name-recognition and prestige is not going to be interested Tudor when there are so many brands to choose from.

I believe that once Rolex hits their sales targets also their margins, they just take some time away. After all, for us in business, you have to start at $0 come January 1. My AD had to pull some strings to get me a green Sub before Christmas. I'm getting my SeaDweller on Tuesday. I was told I'd have both by the end of November.

Makes sense to me. They've always has too many I'm circulation or been too easy to get. I'm sure I'll be singing a different time when it's time to buy my Submariner for the collection though

Actually if you go by the replies count on the main forum - it is 500th one. If you include the OP's post, it is 501!

So prices will go up if a new movement is introduced? The LV msrp is 9 grand already so I wonder by how much it would go up. Frankly it is getting a tad ridiculous at almost 10k for a 3 hander w date and no precious metal. You can get a JLC master compressor chrono for 7k so me thinks I am shifting where i am looking

Having thought this through a bit more, if the currency markets keep on going the way they have been recently it could soon make sense for UK buyers to pick up from the US TRF trusted sellers. Over the last few months or so Sterling has gone from £1 - USD 1.3 to £1 - USD 1.41.

A new DaytonaC from DavidSW is now 'only' £13,460 which is almost £3,000 cheaper than Watchfinder

What do I mean?

The people who watch your videos can be primarily categorized into two groups - those who like tech, and those who like nice watches.

Looking at those who like watches - you will have many views from such people, as including many young people. However, and this is key, it is still a closed loop. You are getting highly filtered views from a specifically interested audience, and that means that the numbers are highly skewed.

An example:
- Rolex sells about a million watches a year;
- Let’s imagine you got 100 inquiries from young people ...while nice, that’s not even a drop in the ocean. Hardly even vapor.
- It is also not statistically significant considering they are coming from a highly focused group to begin with (its like doing a survey on TRF ...any results would be skewed considering we are a highly concentrated audience of watch lovers, and thus there is no randomness).
- Now, let’s even increase the inquiries from 100 to 1,000. Same thing ...absolutely no indication of declining interest, or lack of, among the youth.
- a better sample set would be to go to any large college and ask the students there how interested they are in watches.

With that said, I think there will always be a place for good mechanical watches. Always.

But it will be at a lower demand point than currently seen.
Thank you for your post which supports my original point. Millennials are generally not as interested in mechanical watches. This will affect Rolex strategy.
