Late to the game...but a greater appreciation than I would have had earlier on in my life. 51 years young with a new SD43.

I was 42 and I received an Explorer II from my mother before we left for Singapore in 2004. Before I was wearing a Lange 1 that went into a safe as I fought the climate would be not appropriate for her.

Traded a newer Seiko to my father in trade for his GMT 16750 with water damage at about 15 years old. Restored it to fully working and still have it to this day. Will never sell it bring my fathers it holds a special place.

42. A Sub 14060, bought new. Before that a solid gold Omega Genève Automatic, inherited from my father. A beautiful, elegant watch. I still have it, will never sell it for sentimental reasons and it still runs great!

1994 I was 23....Submariner date. If I remember correctly it was around $3200 usd. I had almost no money but I scrounged funds together. ADs had Rolex selection and even had back stock! Wore it for everything and everywhere. Never took it off. Diving, hiking, camping, travel, fishing, gym, work. At the time internet was at its infancy and I was unaware of the Internet (or what it was) or any watch forums to convalute and schew the purpose of the tool watch. I just bought a Rolex cause I knew it was a great tool watch and wasn’t jewelry for me, value retention or resale never entered my decision. I was hard on it, I thrashed on it and it served me well and never missed a beat. Bracelet developed stretch, case got marred, dinged and it was still awesome. I Had it refinished and serviced by a local watchsmith Several times with no problems. He could get parts all day long at the time. Rolex revoked his privilege though when Rolex pushed out independents access to parts. Sold the Sub 8 years later due to divorce. Got what I paid outta it.
25 years later I’m finally back into my dream Rolex an SD43, and this one ain’t leaving me.

19, in college and purchased a GMT 16700 new back in 1995. Same morning, I had planned to purchase hydraulics for my car. No regrets at all! $3500.
