Did the koreans hurt themselves with the frequent fouls?

There needs to be a serious review of the VAR system. They either need to review all controversial plays or the system simply doesn't make any sense. That or the teams should have a number or challenges, like we see in other sports.

haha. Great game. lucky Germany (though better chances etc.) in the end. Boateng is a disgrace (as the german defence was). It'll be an interesting Matchday 3

Well done to Germany, fully deserved to win, but man did they make it hard for themselves. And how did Sweden get this far? They were so poor, couldn't control the ball or make simple passes, only their goal was a good bit of quality. Their defence played so deep and closed down so slowly, and the one time they needed to stand their ground and show the winger the outside, the fool goes and fouls him and Kroos finishes the game off in style.

We’re dead even with Sweden on points and GD. However, they’re playing a MUCH better 2-0 Mexican squad, whereas we have So Korea. I straight up think Sweden is losing 2-0, so we’d only need to pull off a win, draw or even a 0-1 loss. Mexico is playing fantastic. Feeling pretty good to be honest, as I see SoKorea as weaker than Sweden and us taking the win anyways. Boateng being out isn't a huge deal, rather him miss the final group stage game than our first in the Round of 16.

I know on paper, tonight was just a 2-1 victory with a last minute goal, but anybody who watched it knows that it was absolute domination with Sweden just having a few breakaways. I don't know what the heck that breakdown in our defense was, some revamp needs to happen. OTOH, we had 71%-29% possession and 16 shots taken, with quite a few that were within centimeters of going in.

So if you come second you probably play Brazil next round, unless they too come second. England have a nice last 16 game if we get past Panama whether we come first or more likely second.

With your defence, you really don't want to play Brazil this early.

Right , Germany dominated the game ... totally agree!
Sweden got lucky with their goal on the break ...
Those fast counter attack’s are a B!T*H....
Kidding aside , Germany’s patience paid off but they
need better defense on the counter attack breaks .

It was a domination, there was some ridiculous breakdown on our defense though, like I said, needs to be corrected. What else do you call 71-29% possession? I haven't a clue what they were doing, honestly, it was as if it was amateur hour. Honestly Boateng looked tired. and the entire time doesn't have the fluidity of past years, I'm not worried about next game, but I'm definitely worried about a good tournament finish.

Gary Neville, the top football pundit these days, made a good point that some of your defensive players are playing a Pep Guardiola / Real Madrid system and are too offensive while others are playing in a more traditional tight German way. Roy Keane and he kept saying Boateng thinks he's Beckenbauer, man, they really stuck it to him.

Even with Boateng out they looked composed !!!
That’s the beauty of the German line , even in desperate
situations they are still in control with confidence.

Interested to see how Loftus-Cheek goes. Glad to see Southgate has stuck with Sterling, who is the ultimate confidence player.

Come on England!

Think you’re right.

I watched a James Corden sketch before the World Cup with Kane, Alli, Lingard, Sterling etc and they were all wearing various AP’s with the exception of Vardy who was wearing a Richard Mille
