I think this is in accordance to recent AP pricing. The new steel ROO safari is $42k on strap, at least at 60k you get PM/BC/WG and LE, that makes more sense to me than a regular production steel ROO. Obviously both are overpriced but easier to justify the LE diver here than the new safari. I look forward to picking up the diver 30-40% off in a year or two haha.

Does anyone know why AP has not make any mention of this model? I remember there were quite some coverage on the sapphire Special Edition earlier this year. I still remember reading it being Japan only, but I was told it ended up in other markets too.
I am still confused the difference between LE and SE. So I was told that AP would do a SE when they are unsure about the demand, so they can adjust the production number after a SE is released. Does it mean it could be a very high number as long as there is a demand for it?? BTW, does any know the price of this watch in CHF? If not, what's the price of the sapphire JP edition? |

AP should "remaster" the 6005ST, somewhat larger, with the Jumbo movement if it can be made to fit. That would be killer - maybe I'd take that over a regular Jumbo, for variety. [picture from Semper Fidelis on WPS]

Would be nice to have if it wasn’t quartz. But agreed it would be really cool to have as a remaster or just an addition to the collection. No better yet to do it than 150th anniversary!

I am expecting ceramic Jumbo next year.
There is already 34mm ceramic RO, so I don't expect it is that difficult. |

Is it just me or has the Code started to look really good? Especially the 38mm versions.

Not just you. Some of the launch models (and gen 2 models) had horrible dials, but I think most people liked the unique case structure, skeletonized lugs, and curved crystal. Now that the dials have been fixed, and they have steel models to make it more accessible (and durable), the code 11 has amazing potential. I do think if they made the 38 more neutral or manly it would sell very well. For 41, some mid level complications like a dual time or annual calendar would be nice to fill out the case better. Chrono and Starwheel look great, and the three handers look ok, but I still think there’s a lot of empty space there. The stamped dial adds depth, but “cheaper [than QP]” complications would be nice to have. Jumping from a $35k chrono all the way to a $100k PQ is too wide of a gap. Need something in between for it to take off When you talk about a round dial and a round case, what can you really do to innovate? AP really innovated with the case structure, innovated with the crystal, and released a watch that I think will be viewed positively in 5-10 years. They weren’t lazy with it and didn’t release a square version of the RO or anything :) Only gripe I have about the code at this point is still the price point. I really wish they released the steel models at high teens or low 20s. Would have appreciated in value likely in secondary markets and created buzz and hype that way. But being priced at comparable levels to RO is tough as new collectors would naturally want the more “prestigious” model for value retention purposes. Being priced lower would have prevented new collectors from comparing the two lines and see them both as different and distinct options. Could still have done ultra high comp codes like the universelle, just like we have entry roo and concept lines |
