Very interesting Jorge and I share your thoughts, particularly the subdials. I actually prefer subdials to Windows and gives it the classic Patek style. The only issue I had with the 5146 was the size, 39mm felt a little too big for me and so I opted for the 3940 (I do have a 5396 as well as a modern back up).

Good info. I think the 5205R would be difficult to read but I was hoping the windows are easier than the dials. I haven't worn mine yet but let's see!

Very nice 5146G Jorge. Looks great on you.
But I still prefer my 5205R for better legibility. It's more old-age proof!

Thanks bro , but believe I had own both and I without a shadow of a doubt it's easier for me to read time , date, month and day on the 5146 than my previous window calendars (5960 and 5205)....I thought the same as you that's why I bought mine ...I think is because you actually have landmarks, don't know but it's way easier ...even the lumen on the hands help But I also can say that your 5205R white dial looks stunning Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Could you tell me why you would not prefer to get a 5146 in rose to buying the white one? |

In my totally biased opinion I think the 5146G is a fantastic watch and definately is one of the easiest to read. However, I think your picture shows the contrast on the dial - some days it looks ice white and others a dirty cream...perhaps they should just keep it that pure white and then leave the cream dial for the R and J.

I had the same watch , I think its probably the hottest AC that Patek has; but on certain lighting conditions you can't even tell the time but the watch is so hot that who cares about the time, right ? , awesome watch and very dressy, great choice for your first day of work , specially for long sleeves and suite Cheers !! Well white or cream don't know how much difference would make but it certainly makes the watch clean AF , cream dial is way more legible than slate grey ( I had that one also) ...and white metal better for dress the watch down than the R and J alternatives. I think you just pick the one that works best for your lifestyle because in all honesty each version has its own magic. Cheers ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh yeah, lighting conditions will affect the look of watches for sure. Even the angle of the pic makes a difference. I remember taking pics for my 5205R black dial for TRF and it's such a hard dial to photograph. Lighting conditions will affect any watch, even the strap color can make dial pop better because the contrast. And yes legibility it's a problem for the 5205R black dial no doubt, but the way I wear mine, when I had it , didn't care much because I didn't use it as a daily. Plus is such a hot watch that it's easier to say who cares it looks awesome. So yeah I get your point, there are lightings that favor the watch and some that don't . Never thought about the possibility of the dial being white instead of cream, would be interesting to see it. Cheers ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

and today is Tuesday...a much unloved reference (versus 5110) which I sold in June and immediately regretted the decision and then found one 2 weeks later at an AD with Dubai on the dial (versus Riyadh) which I preferred. Deal done!!

Wasn't hooked at first but it's starting to get to me, after all the stones are discreet enough not being shiny and placed in the right positions, not like many iced watches out there :thumbs:
This one is clearly way too much for me, but your's is pretty nice in fact |

I really want an PP AC and have settled on the 5146G (grey dial) to accompany my PP 5711 - the perfect, IMHO, PP duo. The story of your journey has been most helpful! Thanks mate!!

To be honest after I sold it I never look back to that watch, but start thinking about it again when I went to a Patek event with Mike (goog53) and I stumbled with this guy that has Patek Minute Repeaters, Perpetual Chronos and so for; and I saw him wearing a 5146 or maybe it was a 5035 (can't remember), I was intrigued by it. And He said of all these watches (pointing to the complication watches) which one you think is the best buy? I knew it was a tricky question so I didn't answer, he said that one pointing at the 5146g. That night I went home, and thought maybe I am being a little snob about this watch, maybe I should take a second look. I guess I did That combo that you pick its awesome : 5711 + 5146G.....My Patek combo currently is 5146G and 5712R, so not too different .... I think I will have this combo for some time, the only threat to break this combo is the 5070 but i am not ready to depart from 5712R yet;
