That's a great question you posed. My first (and I still own) is a 14060, purchased in Feb 1994 at a Hong Kong AD. I wear it about 10-12 times a year, but would never sell it (sentimental reasons).

No. Like most of you said, it's a level of achievement and/or sentimental reasons.

I have had my GMT for 25 years now and wear it daily. I have never thought about selling it or putting it in a drawerI will wear it until I stop ticking or it stops ticking

Bought my very first Rolex (a TT DJ 16013) way back in Oct. 1980.

Used it for 10 long years and then sold it in 1990 for a new GMT-II on Jubilee, and now 24 Rolex models later, I'm still a happy chappy!!

You should've bought a Sub date first

Gladly. Want her?

My Rolex, though. Nope. It'd leave my wrist naked.

No way would I part with my Air-King after 31 years! Far to much sentimental attachment.

Doh! Had to sell my Seadweller because I couldn't get a good fit with the clasp not being centered with the full links on the 6 o'clock side. Gone but not forgotten!

I'd rather sell my firstborn.

Ha, I'd still have seven left.

Anyway, he's 40 this year and he 'understands' this Rolex thing.

No way ! I bought it ( 1603 w. wrong box and no papers ) second hand in a pawn shop during the world expo in Seville '92. It has shared fabulous moments in my live and the sentimental value is far greater then whatever it my fetch today or anytime to come . I no longer wear it , and it has been sitting in a bank safe in Luxemburg . I think next time I have to go there I might take it out and have it serviced . I never had it serviced and I somewhere doubt that it has ever been serviced . It has however always kept time , better then my 116520 .

Thought about trading my DJ in for a Daytona, but after second thought decided too keep my DJ which has been my companion through thick and thin since 1988 (21 years). So I´m saving up for my dream Daytona. It will be passed on to my son.

I wouldn't want and can't sell my SD . . . I have promised to give this watch to my son when the time comes.

It would be fantastic if the story could goes:
"-Well, your grand grand father bought this watch. Now it's yours"

Mine is special to me to, but in the end... it's "just a watch".

So if I needed to sell it, sure.

I wouldn't be happy about it, though!!!

Sold my first early last year. It was a T series GMT Master with pepsi bezel. I thought about selling it for almost a year before I actually did it and didn't regret until almost a year later. Now I realize it was a huge mistake and I have even tried locating it, but no luck. My advice is don't do it.
