Looks to me like somewhere between EO3 (~March 2007) & EO5 (~May 2007) the 'code' was removed...and that PJ2 (~February 2008) was the transition from gray to black print.
Just what I can take from the data we have at present. Need more data!

Adding mine, filling in ingoodtime's year-month code from pic. For those with ???, it's the code on the thinner extension. From the current data, it looks like it could either be OP?, EO?, or PJ?

What do you think the 15/423 represent?
Quote:
Keep on updating M series SS GMT2c owners.......!!!! Let me give a short.... What do you think the 15/423 represent? My guess - 15 probably mean 15% Carbon and 4 mean 4%Ni and 23 meant 23% chromium which makes it stainless......just my 2 cents. http://www.azom.com/details.asp?ArticleID=1022 Chemical Formula of 904 SS steel Fe, <0.02% C, 19-23% Cr, 23-28% Ni, 4-5% Mo, <2.0% Mn, <1.0% Si, <0.045% P, <0.035% S, 1.0-2.0% Cu or it could meant the out of 423 designs, the 15th design passes the test and this is used as a standard for GMT2c clasp...... It can mean anything........on earth.....or the moon....... |

I find it interesting that Overkill's M8 series has an EO8 bracelet yet the other M's around it S/N-wise seem to have PJ2's....
It also appears to me that InGoodTime's M74/PJ2 with black print seems to be an anomaly as his neighbors are all grays. Anyone out there have an EO4 bracelet? That would be very useful for filling in the blank re: 'code removal'. Z80XXXX and OP10 with code 15/423, gray print (subgmt) Z946XXX and OP10 with code 15/423, gray print (Damage Inc.) I have a Z84XXXX with E04 and 15/423. Looks to me to be gray print but changes to darker depending on lighting.

Hey Vic! I think this shows that the serial number doesn't mean much on a Rolex. They produce them in bulk then use cases in a very random order.
As an example: My TT DJ is an X-serial (1991 1/2 per the charts online), but it has a December 1993 clasp code. Just my two cents! Jim |
