Keep saving for what you know you truly want, and be patient, it will pay off.

Save for the Rolex IMO (I am.... it'll have taken me almost eighteen months maybe two years by the time I get 'em both!..... )
....but as someone else said earlier there ARE some beautiful Omega's at a fraction of the cost.

Save for the one you want...I have a TAG Link from about 10 years ago...and now that I have exposure to (and own) Rolex products, I wish I had that money I spent back and would buy another Rolex...When I bought it I was very happy with it, and still am, mind you...but you are at a different starting point...you want a Rolex...If you want a Rolex...DON'T SETTLE!!!!

Hold out for the Rolex. If you settle for second best, you'll end up flipping it down the road for what you want. And then you'll end up realizing that no one really flips TAGs Take it from me, I have a drawerful of TAGs I settled for until I saw the light

Personally, I would wait. If you don't wait, then the Rolex will keep calling you and you will end up with a nice Rolex and a semi-nice Tag or something else. It will end up being more expensive in the end.

I agree with those who said to save up.

My husband bought a TAG TT automatic sports watch in 2000 for a little over $800 (it retailed for $1100). He should have saved his money for a Rolex. The money on the TAG was essentially wasted. It kept terrible time, the gold rubbed off of the links, and the bracelet was not nearly as comfortable as his Sub's bracelet. While a Rolex would have some decent resale in it, I think the TAG is, probably, relatively worthless.

I understand where you are coming from... if you want to get something to hold you over, go ahead, but get something that won't break the bank.

Keep on saving for the GMT IIC. If you want to buy something for now, why not a Jorg Gray 6500... the Barack Obama "Commemorative" watch. It makes for an interesting conversation piece and for less the US$300 it wont affect much your plans to bet the Rolex.

I waited till my 32 to finally get my first Rolex after trying several other (dare I say cheaper Swiss brands). My advice is save for the GMTIIC. A Tag or Omega just are not the same and even though you have bought an expensive watch you may feel you have compromised!
