You need to decide what is most important the brand or the watch.
Well said, Martin. dP

I agree, an MC is really cool, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the current Tudor models are going to be considered cool ... in 30 years... who knows? They have character, no doubt about that.

Tudor is a great brand. I have owned vintage ones as well as purchased a couple new. Their quality control is on par with Rolex and Rolex still provides the servicing but, as expected there is something a little different.
For example, the TT uses less gold by making the gold portion of the link a little smaller and folded. As for movements, yes they use ETA but they are specially made for Tudor, not just out of the generic bin, so they are still unique in their own right. But that might have recently changed or will change shortly, I keep hearing rumours. As posted earlier in this thread Tudor is on par with Omega when you factor everything in. Tudor is now trying to seperate itself from Rolex and make it's own identity.

Tudor past were SMART MANS ROLEX.......... NOT POOR MANS ROLEX!!!!!
More recently Tudor have concentrated on seperating their brand identity from Rolex, with surprisingly good results. A more youthful and dynamic line in many ways. Anyone concerned about Daytona not having date function should check them out!!! |

I think Tudor makes some very handsome watches (though I prefer the older ranges) and one of the biggest advantages Tudor offers buyers - but one that is often overlooked - is that their watches come backed by Rolex's excellent after-sales service network.

I like their chrono's, they have held value very well over the years. Some of the new watches I don't care much for.

I love the older tudor models, you got so much watch for the money, Some of the newer models seem to be going down the Tag Heuer road - not to my taste but still good watches.

Great input guys!
If I could get one of the new Tudor Date+Day's and put an actual rolex oyster bracelet on it I would do it in a heart beat. I don't think it would fit though? |

For what it's worth.....
I was on a cruise in the Caribbean a couple of months ago, contemplating about which Rolex model to buy at a duty-free port. Then out of nowhere this watch appeared. Rolex diamond set dial for £1,500 (a little over $2,000), solid gold and s/s. Quality and feel, as good as any Rolex that I've worn. The funny thing is many more people stop and ask me about my Tudor than when I'm wearing my Rolex. Ultimately, it's not about Rolex v Tudor, it's about what everyone likes. I LOVE my Tudor, as much as many on here love their Rolexes, which is the way it should be. So for me it's a massive thumbsup: for Tudor.

I like them and always have
In fact Tudor used to advertise heavily in local papers around here and that's where I was exposed to them, even before Rolex. I only became aware of Rolex when I saw Live and Let Die in 1973. I always wanted one and as my 50th is coming up and I honestly cannot afford a Rolex, I am seriously looking at this very same model. I just rang the AD and she told me that the price for the 2-tone is around $3,500AUD and the ss is around $2,500. This is cheaper than current Omega's and I think a fine quality watch. She also told me that Rolex service Tudor's so the quality of care will be top notch.
I am hoping this might be the one for me |

Hi I have always loved rolex and Tudor especially their newer watches and I have a Tudor date which I got in November for my 21st there's something about the way they feel on the wrist, I have tried on a datejust even side by side with my Tudor date and the qualities is dare I say it as good as rolex (maybe not in terms of movement ih vs eta) but in feel and comfort and design on par if a dj gets 9.8/10 then the Tudor gets 9.7/10. Infact I nearly considered getting two Tudors instead of my gmtiic but I HAD to have a rolex in my collection! Will post a picture of my tudor when I'm off my iPhone.
Ps one point I've noted is the 'fluted' bezal scratches very easy :( |
