thanks for the advice. i REALLY want to learn how to spot fakes! i am currently in the hospital for a few days (hence why i actually have time to post), and will heed your recommendation when they let me out of here!

Just got of a military ship and the noise was horrible. I still can't hear a thing.

just watch the posts for fakes and see what we see, you also need to pick up some books on Rolex watches. Use the library here on TRF. I have several Rolex books and I read them all the time. Best of luck!

thanks safe. i have been visiting site several times a day to learn from you masters here at TRF! someone posted the other day, "the devil is in the detail", i agree, but some of these fakes look VERY real! when i got my sub lv (from an AD) i was concerned (for no real reason of course) because it does not weigh near as much as my seamaster! however, i love it way more!!

I'm not a watch expert, however, I am a huge Orioles fan and I can honestly say, without hesitation, that money spent on orioles tickets is, in fact, money down the drain!!!

Sorry, I know this wasn't constructive. I just thought I'd lighten it up a bit.

Don't know if this will lighten up things a lot , but I guess that was at least the most accurate statement we have had so far
That much of a lousy team is it ?

we were once a very proud franchise, a few world series wins, sadly the last was in '83. long before the days of big money ball. i have had season tickets for 11 years and we have had losing seasons for 11 years! i drive 100 miles each way 29 times a year to see those bums... but i still love 'em, have been to every opening day since 1985!

Those who gave curt answers are 100% right. It is a daily occurrence that someone asks TRF members to verify his watch, with no other interest in the site than to get peace of mind (or lack thereof.)

But, the reason for the frustration goes a bit deeper. All too often, it seems someone thinks he has a great looking fake, and he writes a post to see if the forum readily can tell it's a knock off.

Of course, he can't say this directly because he knows we won't help. So he will make up some story about it being a gift, or purchased by someone who didn't know whether it was real, etc.

This poses a dilemma for members. These would be scammers contribute nothing to the forum and we hate to provide good information to people with bad intentions.

Furthermore, and perhaps what is worst, there is always the possibility that they take whatever we tell them and use it to aid in their scam. IE, we tell someone that the lettering on his dial is crude, then he installs a real one which makes his fake slightly harder to identify when he tries to sell it.

I should add -- someone has a fake and is thinking of selling it as real. That's the scam. Nobody ever bothers to come on here and show off his knock off.

I apologise for the lack of warmth towards your plight, Greg.

It looks good from what I can see but the pictures are not too clear.

Party, David?

This thread's a bloody car crash in super slow motion.

I'm just glad that Greg didn't get chilled by the cold welcome.

Same from me Greg and welcome............

Unfortunately the snippy replies were from newbies that seem to think they are established members for reasons best known to themselves.

It would help if you could post some clearer photographs and then the genuine experts here could help you.

Thanks very much and like i said, i have been lurking for awhile. most of you are a bunch of characters, just the way i like it. i had never estimated the bs that some scammers would go through (one of the first threads i followed on here was joeychitwoods plight). i had bought this watch for my wife for Christmas, and she loves it. after being on here for the last month or so, i got a little scared looking at some of the bs out there with regards to counterfeits, so i thought i would ask, because she was talking about getting a easier to read face for it, and i wanted to spare myself the pain if it was indeed a "tribute" (that even sounds cheesy). i understand some of the harshness, i just saw so much "love and friendship" on here, i never thought it would come to this. i am proud to be part of this forum, and plan to be a regular contributor for the rest of my life now that i finally have added a roller to my collection! (which my wife bought me for our 10th anniversary!) thanks guys!!!

Well welcome here on TRF. We do have a good time, we do have a fair share of scammers and thief's on the internet and it is important to aware of them. I am glad you understand and we will have fun together.
