I have three awesome watches, a SS Sub, a TT Sub and a Breitling Emergency. My grail is the one I have on at the time.

+1

My grail watch is my white Explorer II. It also happens to be the cheapest tool watch I own.

I am curious about who wears their holygrail watch everyday.

I tend to wear my Patek on special occassion/weekends and when I am feeling a bit down (and need a pickup).

My watch is white gold and has a leather strap. So it is not ideal for everyday wear in the tropics!

I suppose, if my holygrail watch was a Steel Daytona. You could wear it alot more?

I once had a Rolex 18238 (it was my holy grail watch) and I was always conscious of scratching it, stretch and other horrors!
I am sure a 'Holy grail' is something you strive to find but never can.

If you do find it then it is not a 'Holy grail' anymore.

If the 5107 is your grail why did you ask me if swapping it for a gold Sub was a good deal.

I wear my PP 5712 2 to 3 times a week. If it gets scratched I just clean it up like my Rolex. I think its a shame some folks don't actually wear there grail watches.

My holy grail is the AP RO in rose gold.
Someday I plan on selling everything and buying it - so I'll have to wear it everyday!

Have agree its only a watch and watches are meant to be worn no matter the brand or cost.

I've never really seen the allure of a Patek. Sure they're nice, but there are so many Rolexes I'd rather own in the rarified price range they sell in.

Besides with the recent thread on Patek service costs, it really reinforces my notion, of "nice to admire and look at, but not for me".

I think a watch has to be worn to be fully appreciated, if not why buy it.

I do!

When my in-law asked if I was going to wear it everyday, I said yes. My wife was suprised and responded with a ...you are?"

I told her, "It's a watch ment to be worn. What would be the point of letting it sit in a case or drawer?"

However, if it were a wg sub or meteorite...that would be a different story.

But, if you own 2 or 3 "grails", you can't (without looking a little weird) wear them every day can you?

While I have multiple watches, I still think that the best situation is finding a one-and-only watch you wear every day. I've pretty much got it down to two: Exp2 most days, Submariner some days!

watches are meant to be worn and cars are meant to be driven. Enjoy them! Some people buy a porsche and drive it only on sunny days or just 4-5 times a month. I would drive it daily. My grail is the iwc big pilot and when I get my hands on that you bet I'll be wearing it daily!

I really cant understand why some people buy their holy grail watch and then dont wear it because they dont want to get it scratched. Just taking it out of the safe once in a while to look at it. Might as well just download high quality JPEGs? No risk of it being stolen and no need to pay high insurance premiums hehehe.

I think a lot of us lose insight to Rolex since we're such fans -
a SUB is now $6,000 - that is just FOR A WATCH.

that is a LOT of money -
even used at $4k - that's a lot of money.
Many people have to save up a long time to have that type of disposible cash. And many people will never have $6k to throw down on a watch.

so yes - I can see a SUB (or even an Omega or TAG for some) being a grail watch.

Amen. Who are you saving it for? This is the same with automobiles. I purchased a pre-owned SL500 a few years ago with 15,000 miles. In 5 years, someone managed to put a WHOPPING 15,000 miles on it. 3000 miles a YEAR?
