Well JJ, as much as I like some (not all) the features on the new SS Sub-C, it is not on my list. I do respect everyone's opinions and tastes, but my plans for 2010 had been laid out since last year. Oddly enough, you never know when surprises show up. The SS Dayt was in my plans, as well as some other purchases (secret until I get them later this year) but then that Tudor showed up....well, you know how it goes.
One thing I know for sure is that JJ will be flippin' AGAIN in 2010! |

Yes, you could be right. The guys who are craving for the new SS Sub, would want to get rid of the SIMILAR looking GMT-IIC...........unless, of course, you own the TT version.......like me!!

I think I'll wait to see it person and the how much it'll set me back...
I do however like it and it maybe the one to buy soon for me....I won't however sell anything to get it!! I really was hoping to see something in the Daytona for changes,as that's my next I think!!

I've been throwing some "fun" money aside since about November of last year for my "first" Rolex purchase. I'm pretty disciplined with money, so I don't want a watch purchase to affect my other investment plans, etc.. so I just throw a $50 here...a $20 there...into a nice little envelope. When it gets large enough I'll buy my first Rolex, which I've decided has to be brand-spanking-new. I just don't want to go into my savings to buy one, nor deny myself the other things that I like to splurge on in order to buy a Rolex faster, either. This way is more fun. I'm about 1/7 of the way there. :) I think I'll have enough before the end of the year. Maybe a nice Christmas present for myself.

Nice provocative post JJ. Of course, no decision could be made until a "live" try-on. But if I was dying for it after trying it, I'd have to just save until I had the cash to fork over.

I'm not really into the ceramic bezels, but right now I've got my eyes on a white dial Exp II!

The one issue I have in justifying the purchase, is that I already own a GMT II which is quite similar. The Exp II visually appeals to me more, but I'm also a bezel fiddler, and no rotational bezel on the Exp II.

JJ you could always give away a watch to someone else (not me). That might be a wonderful and appropriate jesture from you.
After all you have received several of your watches as gifts haven't you?

JJ, although I agree the new SS Sub-date is a beautiful watch, I am content right now with my LV Sub and my 5513 Sub and have no plans to purchase the new Sub. If I were going to make a new Rolex purchase, I would consider getting a DeepSea.

This summer's trip to St. Thomas will cause me to have to either get the new sub if it's out by then, or I'd still really like to get a hold of a new Seadweller (now out of manufacture). Toss up. Would love to see the new greenie, but can't think I'd really get that one.

Ummmmmmmmm ....................... Almost perfect. I do wish we'd have gotten a "Maxi-dial 14060M w/o a ceramic bezel. The 14060M is my tool watch and I'd destroy a ceramic bezel in a heart beat working around shipping containers as I do 10-12 hrs a day.

Rolex claims that their ceramic bezel is virtually "indestructible" (extremely scratch resistant)... We will have to test one of those on your job. :)

I for one don't want to be the test bunny. I can just imagine the look if I walked into the RSC in Dallas with a trashed, just released ceramic, and told them I wanted warranty on the bezel because it kissed a shipping container at the Houston port of entry.

I love the new Sub and really look forward to seeing it in person! But I don't really have any plans to buy another anytime soon.

I'll patiently wait for the fanfare to subside and pick one up cheap from a GMD.

The width of the case at the lug area is not proportional to the width of the bracelet. It would have been perfect, had they increased the width of the bracelet to 23mm. So no new Sub for me.
And it is the same reason (plus the large numbers on the bezel) the GMT IIc has not grown on me. |

Shall tell you ; As I have missed out on the ''old'' submariner, I have to have the new model. First of all I think it is a lot more value and quality for money (bracelet, clasp, steel, etc) and, in my humble opinion it looks a lot better with the ceramic bezel. However, even if I like to watch a lot (and I mean must have) I stick to my targets and will wait until market is flooded to get it for a fair price. Just because its new, I am not willing to pay a premium. To swiss for that :) Greetings from Geneva
