I have to say there's one thing I don't totally agree with that's been said previously: the US National soccer team isn't that bad at all. Yes, they performed pretty poorly at the last World Cup but that can be said of other countries as well. I think with expert coaching they could give any team a good match. It's the US mentality of winning that could make them a competent team.

Remember, at the 1994 World Cup they were complete rubbish. Within 10 years I'm sure they were ranked in the top 10 or 15. Not bad for a country which 'doesn't care' about soccer. Actually, I disagree with this statement - soccer is very popular in US schools amongst kids.

As for Beckham - I have nothing against the guy. I can think of other footballers who I can't stand but he is not one of them.

i thought they were pretty ok , not the best team in there but not the worse either, my sympathy to the way their time there ended , the referee was obviously biased against them

Well, they certainly gave the Italians (eventual Champions) a run for their money with that amazing and violent 1-1 draw!!

Hey padi - you want to piss all over Beckham and his tart wife, be my guest. I don't know sh!t about them other than seeing that movie (which had nothing to do with him). But do you really have to bash the USA when you do? Seriously, it makes no sense. I guarantee, if this guy ever walks around in public without cameras and newsies along with him, not 1 in 100 people will know who the f**k he is. And even when they find out, they won't care.

Don't put this on "America". This is a corporate, global thing, put together in concert with an aging star who can't let go.

As to Tony Blair and the lecture circuit, the rest of the world pays a whole bunch of former USA muckity-mucks to spout crap about all sorts of nonsense they know nothing about (Jimmy Carter springs to mind immediately). This is not an American deal. We get some of your jerks, you get some of ours. That's capitalism, baby!

Come off it... there's been rumours and conspiracy theories about Mr Cruise and his 'wives' for years..... that its all a sham and that he really bats on the same team!

Quite frankly tho who gives a 'toss' ahem pardon the pun - about his orientation anyway.

I just said it to be controversial and point out that it shouldnt always be ooooh they could wifeswap - it's always about the man getting extra booty!!

Ehhhhhh I am not explaining myself very well...

Crystal clear, my dear. I also don't give a toss about that. It's just sad that because of that some people have to live 'staged' lives. It the man is a good actor, he is a good actor. Period. All the rest is not important.

Yeh its funny really....years ago being a 'camp' actor was a given, these days they hide it to the endth degree if thats who they are. scared of being outcast, losing fan base and most of all they'll lose their leading big man roles
