Chris, I think you got the best recent deal on a new one. I paid a grand more for a week old one on TRF and I thought that was OK.

That works out to $6500 out the door. I hope Rolex lowers the Canadian MSRP to compensate for the Canuck buck being close to par with the American greenback.

Brand X that is a smokin deal, I figure once supply dries up then AD's will only let the watches go for msrp, that happened here when the GMT II was discontinued.

I know isn't that sad? It sucks that if we were in the US we could easily buy off of sellers here for 1K less. We can, it's just the warranty, customs, duty thing.

I was told last week (in Geneva) by an AD that they could still order them, but that they did not know when that would stop. I was also told today (in Gothenburg) that they expected to be able to order them until June.

touche! 'tis is true and I would've driven 5 south but the AD's didn't want to discount. I paid well under MSRP and no tax dropped shipped straight from an AD BNIB. Thanks DavidSW!!

I just picked up a new LV from my AD 2 days ago. They went 12 1/2 % off on their last LV, so I was very happy with $5600. (They also threw in a third year on the warranty, issued by Rolex on the deal) Love the watch!

The total tax refund when buying something in Sweden is 18.5%

Looks like 13% to me, am I getting ripped off, or are there different rules for watches?

No you're correct. My bad. They have this list they have to follow, and I guess the amount you bought for, was equal to 596 in the list.

I don't know why I wrote that previous post actually, because I've done this MANY times myself when I have traveled back to Sweden for vacation.

I know the rule says up to 17.5% (not 18.5% like wrote before). I'm not sure though, on what kind of goods you can get the maximum percentage - perhaps it's different on clothes?

Sorry again for the confusion!

Cheers,
Joe

Well for a watch thats no longer in production its still clearly being advertised on the Rolex web site, the standard 16610 LV is still in production and will be for sometime yet.

Daytona? I would never buy a Daytona! (Not that there is anything wrong with those that do, it just isn't for me.)

Thanks! Those prices aren't too bad, but not sure I'd buy off random people from blocket. Besides, I'm aiming for slightly more well-loved pieces, at about 35k, 30k and 21k. (Yeah, I know, I'm already planning a trip to Florida.)

I was looking at one on Saturday. Was listed at the "old" price, and they said they would do better than MSRP of $7,200 to compete with the US pricing. Not sure how much they would go down, but I may ask tomorrow. I would have to put my money where my mouth is, if they discount it to a reasonable price for me.
Might entail selling one of my Pannies though.
