It's underrated at present, but I feel that the white Milgauss has potential to be a future collector's item. Zenith Daytonas will fetch a nice price as long as the bubble doesn't burst

Humm....since about 1990ish?
Best I can think of is to go by the rarity. |

Guess it depends on how you define "collectable". There are many vintage Rolexes that are worth tons of money but not collectable to the masses.....double red seadwellers, paul newman daytonas, early chronographs, etc. I think the hottest collectable in the last 20 years are the plastic crystal subs/gmt....1680, 5513, 5512, 1675, etc. Still affordable, rising in value and lots of them around. As someone mentioned earlier, the LV sub will be a future collectable.....only made for 6-7 years. The discontinuation of the current model has already affected pricing for used and new ones.

If we're talking 25 years, it would definitely be the 1655
I think if you stretched the time back to 25 years, it would surely be the Explorer II ref 1655 which was discontinued around 1985/86. I have a friend who bought one brand-new in 1986, so it was still around in ADs 24 years ago.
Reason for collectibility? He paid S$1,000 for it and has been offered 20 times that sum today. "Nuff said. |

I am really surprised that no one has mentioned the GV, initially for me...its looks werent all that great...but its really grown on me....and that fact that its not soo popular will probably make it a hot item in the future.

The last 20 years would put us back to 1990, so I would have to say the 16520 Daytona.

Not many what I would call collectible Rolex in the last 20 odd years far to many of them around. But the Zenith Daytona should be a safe bet, then perhaps the forgotten GMT the ref 16700 with the Cal 3175 a solid each way bet.But myself believe one of the next sort after watches from the 90s will be the 14060 with the tritium dial.Could be the next 5513 must have vintage,if you can get hold of one mint with box papers etc.I believe that prices will rise in a few years time, could be the next investment piece. And perhaps the Rolex ugly ducklings like the Leopard Daytona and YM 11 sure not many of those two watches around. Now I don't normally recommend anyone owning watches just as pure investment

Call me crazy
It will be :
- 16550 Explorer2 , 30xx movement - All white dial, thus not cream, with WG markers. - Black dial - Original bezel (FAT FONT For the other collectibles : - Stainless steel - Tritium dials - Minimum polish There will be some collectibles from the last ten years like YM2, GV and the "Original LV" and 3186 GMT. Also the SWISS dials will fetch a little premium. Jack |

Any Sub for me...
Turned down a Milsub mint condition offer (£1000) in 1991 Still gives me nightmares!!! I wanted a new sub with a bracelet and got a 14060 from an AD... If only I could turn back time!!!

Yes no such thing, just internet hype, just a simple font change by Rolex at the time nothing more nothing less.

In terms of desirability it has to be the Daytona (although it's not my favourite Rolex). I base this on the huge waiting lists and re-sellability of the Daytona. No model beats it in that respect.

Hands down the SS Daytona (Zenith) Black dial with color change. Next any Daytona (Zenith) with inverted 6.

The "error" is an invention by some to inflate the value and create a demand for just another dial variation.

But I was just a young lad. I'd just started at The Danish Royal Navy Diving Academy(Danish Navy Seal) and didn't know right from left in the World of Rolex. I thought it was expensive for an "old" watch that didn't even have a bracelet... I got the new 14060 from the AD at the same price; with a bracelet!!! Even though the 14060 has logged more than 1500+ dives with me and never failed me it still bugs the hell out of me!!!

Plus with that kind of use an older Sub is more likely to have flooded. |
