Am I vain? Well... yes, but as to Rolex.

I have been traveling the last two weeks, meeting a lot of people, and (maybe suprisingly) a lot of fellow WISes. I was startled by how much attention (envy) my Daytona got. I always thought it was a special watch, some of you will agree and some won't, to each his own, but every knowledgable TRFer has to admit the Daytona is a very coveted model.

So it got me to thinking (which usually hurts), how much of the love I have for my Daytona is due to the envy of other's that want one? It's kind of like when you've got a really hot girlfriend, (for me, this never applied of course), and your friends meet her, and are enthrawled; that makes you like her that much more.

So, I know I'm vain and selfish, self-centered, egotistical- you get the point But how much of our desire for a Rolex is derrived from having what others want?

I got to stop thinking now... I'm getting a headache.
