This is an amazing post, ive traveled alot but never to south east asia! It is on the list though. I agree that backpacking is the way to go, last year I went from the Ukraine, down to Istanbul and all the way over to Dublin, it was by far the best trip ive been on! thanks for the post!

Wonderful thread Oleg and I agree with the many who've posted that this is one of the best threads. Amazing pixs, I chuckled when I saw the Hammer & Sickle....my last vacation I took I visited I had hit 7 countries and one was Russia; just loved St Pete.

Asia is on the horizon for my future travels...but going back to Italy is probably first, however, going elsewhere to fab beachescould sway me. Nothing like being spontaneous lol.

ps ~ don't you just love the heat index factor lol

You'll left with a pair of undies.

Great pictures and it brought back memories, I spend a lot of time in Asia and have visited most of the places that you took pictures though I must admit I'm not the backpacking type more mid range B&B.

PS. Is not Beer Lao the best beer! take it easy on the rice whiskey it gives you a major handover the next day.

Great trip

One of the most beautiful places is northern Thailand....Chiang Mai Chiang Rai area. I have travelled to all the places that you did in your amazing 6 month odyssey also and I can appreciate your experience.
I understand what you mean about your watch...although I have done the same trekking with a GMT II strapped on.....in 40C heat with 95% humidity......everything gets uncomfortable.

Wonderful pictures...thanks for sharing.
