Ok, unless you guys have some flipping proof that the watches are already pre-selected for owners, stop talking like they are.

Have a little flipping faith. It is a community watch made by Panerai. Does ANY other watch company do this? NO!

Sorry MFer but I sent an email to a well known Paneristi that deals in lot of new and used Panerai's out of Europe. He as well has some good friends in the factory but it seems from what he says even he may not get one.

Here is his email reply to me tonight about the 360.

Hi Rob

not sure that I will get even one of those PAM360..... let's see, they are not delivered by AD's it seems...they are registered by Panerai itself and they will decide who will get one.

I'm not a Prophet sorry... :-) but guess price will go around double of list price if watch is really as cool as it looks on the photo, depends on the market acceptance we will see when it's on the market

Wish you a great weekend

with best regards

That "email" still doesn't indicate how "Panerai itself" will select the people who may purchase their watch. This doesn't indicate (from what I'm readying) who or how they will be distributed.

According to the post, you send an email to OP and they'll decide....somehow. If they already had everything predeclared, why go through this facade of randomness. I'm sure not all are random, but why would they (panerai) lie.

The guy that answered my email and you see above his reply is a guy named Markus Tschopps. Do a google reference search for him and as well do one on Paneristi as well and I am sure he will happily accept your apology. He said what he knew, don't crucify a guy for that.

I'm just saying, they have done releases before where they had everyone picked out already. Why would they change their mind this time, do something different, only to be doing the same thing they've always done.

Well, that is an amazing piece
I'm sure almost everybody who likes Panerai will LOVE this piece

The chance of getting one must be very small.
All their Limited editions, mostly around 2000 pce are always sold out in the first 2 hours after Basel openen the doors

So only 300 pce of this ... I think they will get 3000 and probably more emails asking for one

Anyway, I'm in

Icon9 Looks like it is too late for the 360!

Sorry Guys, but according to this blurp on the Panerai website, the 300 units have been spoken for. That sucks; I sent my e-mail and guess what...

The movement, for those that were wondering, is the hand-wound OP I calibre.

I'm not sure Johan.
I mean, maybe they got indeed a few hundred emails within the first minutes, probably a few thousand :-)
I think they said it is sold out because the demand was so big BUT that doesn't mean they already know who will get one.
You could have been number 3587 who tried to get one and maybe your name will be picked

I'm all for keeping hope, but it stands to reason that they were innundated with requests within minutes. Aside from holding back certain units for VIPs, I don't see why they wouldn't just go in order of email request. The statement seems pretty clear to me that it sold out in minutes.

Just my 2cents, don't crucify me for this.
Personally I don't mind with flippers. I think that's what we need in the market. We need exchanging hands with hike in prices to increase the status of the brand. You wouldn't want a watch with resale value of 30% within a year of purchase. You want something that double the price. Although our watches might not be the grails but at least the brand is well respected.

I have no problem with flipping. Or should we say 'speculating'.
After all, if seller and buyer are happy with the price...

Other limited/special edition models have been subject to speculation, so why should the 360 be any different?

Cheers

They have been sold out in first few minutes

This is from panerai.com:

Ten years have gone by since the launch of the website www.paneristi.com and in that time, the Panerai watch enthusiasts who exchange information, comments and stories on the site forum have grown from just a few dozen to several thousand from all over the world. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of this story of extraordinary passion, Officine Panerai presents a new Special Edition watch dedicated to the “Paneristi” and made at their request - the Luminor for Paneristi’s Anniversary.

The new Luminor for Paneristi’s Anniversary, designed by Officine Panerai and bearing in mind the guidelines and preferences expressed by the community of “Paneristi”, comes with a 44 mm Luminor case, distinguished by the classic crown-protecting bridge device, making the watch water resistant up to 30 atmospheres (approximately 300 m in depth).

The case, bezel, bridge and crown are coated in DLC, as is the buckle that closes the strap in antiqued leather. The watch is personalised by the steel caseback, which bears the engraved inscription Paneristi.com, and Tenth Anniversary.

Standing out on the black dial are the classic numerals and large index markers so typical of Panerai, made in a special ecru SuperLumiNova® - which also coats the hands – adding to the watch’s vintage look. “Luminor Panerai” and the OP logo are engraved in white. The movement of the Luminor Logo DLC - 44mm is the hand-wound OP I calibre.

The Luminor for Paneristi’s Anniversary was launched on the Paneristi forum on 1st July 2010 and the same medium was used to provide instructions for ordering the watch. The 300 pieces produced sold out in the few minutes following the publication of the relative post.

I bet that it cost Richemont all of 1200 to 1500 USD to make this watch with that movement, they will sell it for 6700 USD and now they will sit back and laugh at how much flippers can see ask and get paid for it.

Well then, now that that is settled. Any guesses on how much the first 360 flipper advertises his watch for online publically? I am guessing he will ask no less than 15k USD.

I don't believe that anyone has received notification yet (take a look on 'risti.com)

Don't know what the selection process will be. Perhaps just pull 300 names out of a hat?

Cheers
