When I bought my GMT II Red/black,towards the end of 2000,I had one of these in my hands at the dealer.I suppose it was one of the last ones made.I must say, it even looks nicer "in the hands",compared to the pics. Its a very nice looking watch

Many thanks to everyone for the kind words. I am very happy about this purchase - one that has been on my "want" list for awhile. I promise more photos after the watch arrives, probably next week.

Thanks Padi. The nipple dial is a real eye opener for me. Still have a long way to go in learning about Rolex watches. But the responses I get from you guys show that there's no better place to begin the lessons than here.

The brown dial/bezel and TT bracelet are a great combination. Enjoy.

Nice score Allan! The Rootbeer GMT is becoming quite popular with the collecting community. I think it's a watch whose time has come.

Good show!!!

Thanks very much, Mike. Coming from you, that is as good as it gets!

I have had this one on my "want" list for awhile, and decided to be patient and let it come to me. BINGO!!!

Can't wait to receive it and snap some pics for you folks to see. Cheers...

Thanks, Otis. It is not your ordinary GMT - and yet, it is...

That's what has made it so intriguing to me. I did not have a GMT in my collection, but really didn't want the standard models, and couldn't afford the Anniversary one , so this beautiful take on the classic GMT totally beguiled me. I am VERY excited about this one!

Thanks, Paulie. That would be A & W serials...

Congratulations Allan. A friend of mine has one with the jubilee bracelet and it does look nicer in the flesh. A much underrated watch in my opinion.

I appreciate that, Adrian. I actually had another Bronze GMT Master with the Jubilee bracelet on my "watch" list, but my personal opinion is that the Jub bracelet is really not right for a sport/tool watch like the GMT. I think it gets away with it because its on a Steel & Gold watch with the twinlock crown.

Anyway, I agree that this watch ALWAYS looks better in the flesh, and is a very difficult watch to photograph in all of its glory. It has been VERY underrated, but seems to be making a comeback with collectors. The prices are rising for the ones in circulation - I'm just glad I got this one before things got worse!

I only now got the A&W Rootbeer reference... haha

Great watch... it sure is pretty. If I were to get a TT GMT, I'd be tempted to find one of these...

LOL @ Tony RE: the A&W reference... Leave it to Paulie to come up with that!

As to possibly getting one of these Bronze babies - you better hurry, my friend. They are rapidly becoming collector watches, and the price is bound to head upward. Cheers...

BTW - I just got a call from the seller, and everything is clear and the watch is being sent out tonight! Yesssss!!!!
