If you don't mind please share with us excatly what happened and how it was resolved..I myself am relatively new at TRF and would like to purchase from one of the recognized guys here, however, having never bought rolexes this way (online via mail-not ever seeing the product in person)is rather scary *though I have read most of the facts on TRF,etc

There are a number of reputable dealers here on TRF. They all source their watches from suppliers. The unnamed supplier Oscar dealt with is a reputable one that supposedly had the watch I wanted in the exact configuration I wanted. I later found out that the dial and bracelet had been swapped.

My wife was nursing our newborn at night and was checking the time. She could see all the numbers but could not tell what time it was because the hands did not illuminate. I did some research and found that the roman numeral ever rose datejust came with non-illuminated hands, so clearly there had been a swap. Then I googled the tag numbers and found that the last set of numbers meant the strap was jubilee (but my watch had an oyster band), so figured the strap was swapped too!

Oscar was horrified, apologized, and sent me a prepaid fedex label right away. Sent me a few gifts for my troubles and is in the process of refunding me until my new order comes in. This was not his fault. It was the supplier.

I later learned that some dealers feel that swapping dials bezels and straps are fine as long as they are all genuine parts. I don't agree. Oscar fully disagrees too. I don't regret ordering from bodybump at all and would still buy from him again (I still am ordering through him).

Thanks so much for taking the time to provide me with your experience. Glad you caught this and Oscar is an upstanding guy, may your wife get the correct watch soon.

Something like this can occur anywhere which makes it a scarier thought, that dealers are swapping parts which they think are okay to do. I am in agreement that that is very poor business practice.

Thanks again for the enlightenment.

Just want to add everything is settled in a professional manner...even us can be a victim of this kind of poor business practice...but still like what everyone says.. when your dealing with reputable sellers or buyers everything will be settled out smoothly..There is always a bad egg in basket...Thanks Doh for the support!!

Thanks for the update - are there more precautions you would recommend, being an expert in the industry, for consumers to be aware of in recognizing these poor business practices like switching dials and bracelets?...one would assume a "dealer" is a trustworthy source, now this story has given me the "trust no one" attitude and I will be sure to check my future watches like the customer did in this story..

Indeed. But what I find astonishing is that no one has asked me who the supplier was in this situation, nor has anyone asked who the dealer was that thought it was legitimate to swap dials bezels and bracelets...
