I would let him choose. A watch is such a personal possession.

For him he loves it, he has never worn any yellow gold his whole life, so the SS Air King just fit him perfect, I figured being retired a date function was not that important, the oyster bracelet was just right, jubilee would be too blingy for him. He just would not wear a sub or gmt just too big for him and he is 6'2". Honestly, he knows it is a Rolex, and is very appreciative to have been given one, but again he would never go out and buy one for himself, and would not want most people know he is wearing one, so I just thought the Air King was the perfect match. Now keep in mind this is "My Dad", the greatest man in the world to me, there have been many great suggestions given here. I really like the one to have him go with you to pick one out if it is not a surprise. Good luck

I bought my Dad a milgauss (non green crystal), and he loved it.

I am a parent, and look forward to the day when my two boys think about buying me a Rolex. Because this date is relatively very near, I shall address your question from the prespective of "what would I wish my two boys to buy me".
Basically, given that my office days are relatively numbered, I want a Rolex watch that can help me be more phsyically active, a watch that I can use in my hikes and walks; perhaps an Explorer II, or a submariner no date. Mind you, I do not want my boys to pay an arm and a leg for this present, it is the idea that counts really...hence, the relatively well priced suggestion of the above two models. I am sure that your parent will be very happy of whatever you suggest. Best regards to all. |
