Why the 36'000 VpH and not the Striking 10th?

Both share the same case, same size and thickness. Both movements vibrate at 36,000 VPH.
The crown and control locations are the same.
The dial layouts are the same.

But no doubt the Striking 10th is more striking than the 36'000 VpH. This is because of the red central chronograph
hand and the 3 colored (gray, black and blue) intertwined subdials.

In comparison, the 36'000 VpH looks plain, subtle.

Chronograph Function

Striking 10th

Central red hand - 1 rotation= 10 seconds (this hand is rotating 6 times faster than a regular second hand)
Subdial at 3 o'clock- 1 rotation= 60 seconds
Subdial at 6 o'clock- 1 rotation= 60 minutes
Subdial at 9 o'clock- regular second hand

36'000 VpH

Central blue hand- 1 rotation= 60 seconds= 1 minute
Subdial at 3 o'oclock- 1 rotation= 30 minutes
Subdial at 6 o'clock- 1 rotation= 12 hours
Subdial at 9 o'clock- regular second hand

In summary the striking 10th can measure from 1/10th of a second up to 60 minutes while the 36'000 VpH can measure from 1 sec to 12 hours.
The 36'000 VpH has a tachymetric scale on the outer dial which is not present on the Striking 10th.

In conclusion, the 36'000 VpH looks dressy (but with sporty function eg. tachymetric scale) while the Striking 10th looks sporty.
When measuring times in minutes or several seconds the fast rotating central red hand can be distracting in Striking 10th IMO.
Since I don't need the 1/10 of a second measurement and the difference of close to $3K, choosing the El Primero 36'000 VpH is a no brainer for me.

These 2 Zenith El Primero models are two of the best looking chronos in the market today IMHO.

The only negative point is the non hacking function (when setting the time) but no problem for me, I'm used to Patek Philippe.

was thinking of one of them last year...

almost pulled the trigger on the NV 1969 earlier this month, but the AD wasnt able to offer more discount on it.... so i thought i should wait for a little bit longer and see if he gets desperate to sell

. i do like the "unusual looking" squarish case of the NV 1969

really? i liked that one first... then realised it is quite similar "looking" to my Speedy Pro and Daytona.... (yes, im aware of the date funtion issue). the NV1969 looks slightly different due to its retro looking case

The shape may be similar but the absence of bezel, the date function, the tri-color subdial and the central red hand is enough to differentiate it from the other two. Besides, I think, it is partly the case shape that made the two (Speedy Pro and Daytona) iconic chronos withstood the test of time.

One thing that everybody seems to not care for is the overlap of the subdials, and they're hoping Zenith will do away with those in future designs. The problem is they are trying to get the cases sizes down to around 42mm, as opposed to the 45-46mm sizes prevalent a few years ago under the Nataf regime. To keep the subdials large enough to be easily read, they are overlapping the edges.
