My GMT IIc is also spot one, for the few weeks I have owned it. What would be the significant differences between the two movements (3186 and 3185 with the parachrom hairspring)?

And for any watch any brand to run consistently too or inside the COSC standard is quite good enough for me or a few seconds either way.If I needed almost spot on accuracy I would have bought radio controlled or a Citizen with the A660 movement.
I agree with what you are saying but it can be regulated to no deviation, because I have had all my Rolexes like that. I think it is important to monitor the deviation during the running in period and the longer the run in period the more reliable the the result. Then send it back to RSC and phone to speak to the watchmaker and make sure he or she knows the deviation. The other important factor is the watch must be consistant in the deviation. I never had a watch that isn't so I would not know if a non consistant watch can be regulated to give a consistant deviation.

What you can do is set your watch to the atomic clock at time.gov. Then check it again 24 hours later then check it periodically throughout the week to see how it is doing.

After about a week of monitoring if you are within a few seconds + or - then you are ok. If it is off by alot then it should go in for service if it's been awhile or adjustment if recently serviced.

What I found is alot of watchmen won't do an adjustment without charging for a full service. Some AD's have watchmen in house that may or may not adjust it for you.

If they are doing it correctly then they should give you a chart showing its timing in 5 different positions.

I found a great watchmen with a Rolex parts account near me who did my adjustment for $30 and it took a few hours. My 06 TT sub is spot on now! I was at about +20 sec a day.

Good Luck

Quick update. When daylight savings time kicked over for the fall, I reset my Sub-C and gave it a fresh wind. Since that time, it has run very, very consistently at +0. I am quite impressed with its accuracy.

My gmt2c is - 1-2 sec per day. I just checked my sub which after 6 weeks is still spot on the naval observatory time clock. I can barely believe it. I don't expect this accuracy from a mechanical watch, but have had quartz watches that haven't been this accurate. No special attempts at regulating it by positioning. And I have had it off 3 times for 24 hours or so. I think my other watches are getting lonely.

I have had a Sub C since late October. It has been running from a half second slow to a half second fast in the last month when compared to an atomic clock. I would like that is fairly remarkable!!
