Anyways, of the bunch you're considering I would say the Submariner is the best known, followed by the GMTIIc and then the Explorer II....but it is what you think that counts....just don't buy on impulse and give yourself 2 or 3 visits to the AD to decide....make sure you can return it (don't wear it or get it sized immediately because then you can't return it), and check for "re-stocking fees", etc. Remember if you size/wear it...no AD will take it back and it's classified as used and yours to keep until you sell it privately (AD's will seldom give fair value on used watches).

That is really a valuable advice but I think most of the dealers consider it as yours once the warranty card has been stamped regardless whether you wore it or not!

this makes the decision even harder! it signifies that the GMT is popular

I can't go for three Rolex watches that's too much, beside I like to try other trade marks from while to another.

EXP II all the way. It's the most underrated Rolex IMO and just as good if not better than the many faces of the GMT II series.

I went to two different ADs today. First one sold out on GMTIIc and asked if I wanted to put 30% deposit to order one...

2nd one had two GMTIIc in store. Well, only one left now.

I started with two tone GMT II Ceramic, I wore for few months and had a chip on the ceramic bezel. Now I have to replace the whole 18k ceramic bezel, So if you going for the new Ceramic it not that tough, with the light hit ceramic will chip, s0 wear it with care.
I was disappointed with Rolex New Ceramic it not durable.

All three, at least! I would recommend the GMTIIc first. I love the look, and having compared it to the SubC, I definitely liked the GMTIIc "POP" more than the Sub, but again, that is just "my" taste. I will definitely get the SubC at some point. I had the Explorer II (White Dial) and just sold it yesterday to a friend.....after wearing my GMTIIc, for some reason it just seemed too small now and too plain (Weird how that happened). I just bought a brand new in box Sea Dweller (not the Deep Sea), and am looking forward to getting that soon.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, but as so many have recommended, try them all on, and buy what YOU like......and don't worry, you will soon have all three and them some!

The Sub C has the new features, a 120 click bezel and brushed links. That would be my choice.

I flipped my EXP II for a TT GMT II which was a bad mistake. Fortunately I was able to undo the flip.

Give me a fixed SS bezel over the Rolex ceramic anytime.

Yes, the upgraded clasps are great but the EXP II is much more functional.

Owning a Rolex is an addiction...I used to own all three watches (not at the same time though) and I just can't get enough of them. I flipped one after the other in order to satisfy myself and currently, I only own a 16610 sub. Now, I'm thinking of selling this one and getting the new Sub C, which I haven't seen in person. Oh well, I really have to stay away from this forum..

Thats right the only treatment for this addiction is to quit wearing watches!
but which one of the three do you recommend?

I haven't seen the new sub yet in person, but the GMTIIc is my favorite so far between this watch and the Explorer ...If you dont mind the polished centre links, in my opinion, this watch is the best bang for you buck. It looks and works similarly as the sub minus the depth rating the sub has, but has a GMT functionality that comes very handy!

No way I would go with the Rolex ceramic bezel so that leaves only the Explorer II.

Hopefully the 2011 will have an upgraded bracelet.

In the meantime, I will "make do" with my current EXP II and Omega LiquidMetal.

You have a very good watches collection the liquid metal is great. Is the bezel in the Omega made of ceramic?
