I have both and I prefer the super jubilee because it is such a beautifully made piece of art. Especially compared to the regular Oyster Bracelet. When you look at the clasp and the links there is just no comparison.

I changed out the oyster for the jubilee about an hour ago... I am still so undecided. The oyster give the watch more "heft" and "mass".. a more "solid look". The jubilee is more comfortable and elegant...but seems diminutive compared to the watch head itself.

I like both, too. The Oyster looks rugged and the Jubilee looks dressier/flashier.

I have two favourite bracelets: Rolex Oyster and Blancpain X-71.
Oyster bracelet matches well with sport Rolex models. |

I think they both look really good, I can't decide which I think looks the best but I would certainly like one of each to try.

Please forgive my ignorance in this matter but was the GMT originally available with both types of bracelet?

Yes all GMT's were available with either a oyster or jubilee bracelet. Some even came with the Sub bracelet/fliplock clasp. I own a 16700 and a 16713 which came with oyster bracelet/Sub fliplock clasp from the factory. The 16700 and 16713 were offered with the following: Oyster 78360 and 78790 (Oysterlock starting 1989), Jubilé 62510

I have been wearing the jubilee most of the day... and I am leaning back to the oyster at this point. I may change back to the oyster and see....

The oyster fliplock is back on....and it just "looks right". I am going to have to vote oyster. Maybe I should sell the jubilee....

Jubilee...all the way
Good question. I've been through this as well... I originally had a jubilee on my GMT, and when I tried switching to the Oyster, it just didn't work for me. Something very classic about the jubilee GMT - Pepsi combo.
But I'd still like to try the 93150 on the GMT...I love it on my Sub. |

Well I have come to a bracelet decision: Oyster lock! It just seems to match the substantial nature of the watch. The Jubilee just seems too diminutive in comparison to the GMT watch head. That I wore my 16610 Sub to work daily for several years before retiring and am subconsciously used to that look may also be in play here.
That the Oyster had an overwhelming advantage in the poll here is not a surprise either. I will still keep the jubilee bracelet a little longer in the event I change my mind but I will probably sell the jubilee once I am comfortable living with this choice. Anyone know what a Like new correct SS jubilee /w end links is worth these days? |
