I've been in contact with a gentleman who is the original owner of a 6204 with the Submariner name on the dial. Below is what he said...
"Mine does have the " SUBMARINER" name just above the 6: o'clock bar with a serial number of 85xxx. 15 of these watches were given to us by Rolex in the latter part of 1954 to be evaluated during our 1955 UDT Advance Training exercises." - Al Very exciting!!!
