Varied sizes are great in the collection. I do love the classic 40mm for Rolex though. Nice clean lines.

36mm-40mm is the perfect range for me.

No.
40 mm is more than big enough. I got rid of my sub it was so big heavy and uncomfortable. 36 mm is large enough to sea the dial with ease, but light enough to wear 24/7. The ideal size. Hopefully the silly 40mm+ fad will end soon, leaving such out-sized watches to be used as wall clocks! Peter |

Nope i think 36mm DJ and DD and the sportsline 40mm are okay.
The 41 mm DJ2 is not my cup of tea, sorry just my personal taste.

most Rolex owners tend to be more traditional.

I associate smallness with the Rolex brand. I like to think of the brand as relatively more classically and traditionally styled than most...less trendy, and if that makes them seem small, so much the better...it makes them a little different.

Personally I wish they would make more 36mm and smaller watches, but then again I got twigs for wrists

Personally, I think Rolex watches are the perfect size. The fact that they have maintained their classic style and size is one of the reasons they have maintained popularity for so long and been able to transcended fads and short-lived styles.

I think 34mm is a good , practical, standard mens watch size. To me 36mm is large.

Regardless of ever changing and short lived fashion trends, I think that 36 - 40mm watches are the ideal size, and many other watch brands simply use size and shock value to compensate for workmanship and quality.

Rolex have been edging up in size with their new models in
recent years, but being slow to change, its just as the big-large fad is slowing down or peaking, and maybe even fading? I think if you found Rolex too small, you'd wear Panerai which are large and have a Rolex connection. Or maybe you can also look at Omega/Tag/Breitling/etc who all have large watch options. Large or Small also depends on your own wrist size. IMHO, theres got to be proportionality in how it looks on your wrist. |

I have no problem with 34-40mm Rolexes/Tudors....I have always thought Rolexes/Tudors wear bigger than their specs.

On my slim wrists (I like the term twig-like) anything larger than my subc would look downright silly. |

Panerai = clock on a wrist. Prefer something a little more inconspicuous myself.

I used to think Rolex was small. I bought a few watches before just generic brands that were in the 44 range and up. They actually look okay on the wrist but i found them too situational. Couldn't go with everything. Picked up my Sub C and it is as diverse a watch as you can get. Goes with everything. There is still a place for the larger pieces just not really every day watches. I remember when i was getting engaged (don't ask i ended it) i was looking around for a watch for my fiancé to get me and asked a sales rep what he suggested. I didn't really pay much attention to rolex back then but he said if you want an everyday watch you can't go wrong with a GMT IIc. I fully agree now.
Never the less i would love to get an APROO for a situational piece. Wouldn't wear it everyday though. I just believe that there is a time for all sizes of watches.

I believe 36mm to 42mm is more than adequate. Anything larger to me just looks ridiculous. Actually my Seiko diver is my only 42mm watch. All of the others are between 36mm & 40mm. If I could have rolex custom make me a watch it would be 39mm. I believe that would be the perfect size watch.

For some, no. For others, yes.
SO . . . I don't know why Rolex doesn't offer a couple of versions for each watch. For those who want a Daytona in 42 or 44, have it available. For others who prefer the classic size, keep it. Rolex is, IMO, too conservative with changes. I'm not advocating sweeping product overhaul, just a little variety to keep up with current trends while still offering the classics. |

I have a silly story to tell about my watch taste. 10-15yrs ago, I wore nothing about large watches. Despite my small wrist, I was drawn toward Seiko monster/kinetic, Panerai, Speedmaster etc. I was in senior management in male dominated companies, having a loud watch seemed to be the thing to do. Not to mention, I was also into expensive loud tie, shirt and suite etc. The psychology was simple: look at me, I command your attention. The Datejust my father passed on to me never saw wrist time.
As time go by, I developed new perspective on career and life in general. I now run my own consulting business. Even when meeting client the first time, I don't even want to impress them with anything external. Lasting impression always comes from inside. I dug out the DJ from the drawer. Wow, never knew it is so comfortable and elegant. Then I asked how could I carried a brick on my wrist for so long. 36-40mm is just right for me. Don't get me wrong, I love fancy and expensive stuff for their beauty and intrinsic value. I hope to pick up a TT Daytona next year. But I would be upset if 'Daytona II' becomes 44mm!
