That's an amazing watch. Such incredible condition for a 52 year old watch. I just find the rivet band to be stunning, especially in the gold and looks to be in great shape.

I was stunned that a 1959 didn't have lug holes ... talk about coming full circle. No lug holes, then lug holes, then back to no lug holes.

Wow. Fabulous and in gorgeous condition. Looks like it was hardly worn. Can you share the story behind it? Did it come from the original owner? Papers?

Hello friends!
Thank you for resurrecting this old post, of a year ago, when this beauty came home.

Bob: your message:
" ... Wow. Fabulous and in gorgeous condition. Looks like it was hardly worn. Can you share the story behind it? Did it come from the original owner? Papers? "

The watch was offered to me by a local vintage dealer I usually buy from, and who calls me everytime something interesting arrives to him.
The watch has no box or papers, but looks unused, as it is usual here with full gold Rolex watches, which are reserved only for very special occasions, and little used.
I was very fortunate to find this one, indeed.

Thank you for your kind comments, and cordial regards, Abel.

Congratulations on a magnificent Datejust... the dial is very special (love the graduated faceted batons), and rivet link Oyster bracelet is fantastic! Wow!

Thank you Mike! Glad you like it. I agree with you that the dial looks fantastic, and I´m a big fan of riveted link Oyster bracelets. They surely give an special vintage look to the watch!

Hola Francisco!!

Thank you so much for your nice & kind comments, and specially for this great link to Ricciardi history.
This jewelry store which still exists, but far from the splendor of past decades, is really a part of the History of Buenos Aires city, and of course, part of the history of some of the greatest names in watchmaking, like Rolex, Patek, Vacheron, and others.

I just had time to a quick glance to the link, but I´m sure it will provide for some nice reading tonight, at home.

Thank you again, and best cordial regards, Abel.
