You're kidding, right? CA really can sing, but hopefully, no more at the Super Bowl...

Agreed. She has a great voice but probably just bad memory.

One of the most moving emotional events I have witnessed for a sporting event is the New Zealand National Anthem sung by a Maori at the All Blacks v. Wallabies match. Absolutely fantastic baritone voice sung from the heart. I shall never forget it.

The Haka was one of the best I've seen as well.

National Anthems should be sung by proper singers not vocal gymnastics IMO.

I am not a fan of Christian Aguilara and she definitely messed up but to say she doesn't have any talent is a bit overboard. She has sold over 50 million albums which is the second most albums sold in the 2000s. Only Madonna beat her out. She also has 5 Grammy's. Her music isn't necessarily my cup of tea but she definitely has a huge following.

Also, she has actually sung the National Anthem on several other occasions starting at age 11 when she sang the National Anthem during the Stanley Cup Finals in 1992.

100% true, Gary. Aguilera is talented, even though I don't particularly care for her. Guess she had an off day. Hopefully now Tim won't call her a thug

Now that you mention it she sort of does look like she is morphing into Cyndi Lauper.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As long as the people in the stands continue to cheer, and nobody at home complains to the league, this crap will continue!!!!! If I have to hear all that screeching again under the guise of "artistic license" I'm going to scream. Sing it the way it's written, or stay home please. I'd much rather hear a HS band sing it the way it's written, that some "celebrity" butcher it. Glad that I'm not the only one that feels this way. PS, I muted the commercials, and changed the channel during the halftime disaster.

I just don't pay attention, nor do I care really. I leave other people to their own ignorance rather than bathe in it with them. JMHO. But I agree, she could have at least rehearsed.

The anthem at the Superbowl is showcasing the USA to the world, it is a responsible undertaking and a serious moment for America's image.

Singing the national anthem should evoke strong patriotic emotions and serve as a symbol to other nations that there is a rich history and great pride in the USA - not "Hey ya all get down and boogy."

Judge it for yourselves the way it was sung.........

Exactly! Never mind the fact that she borked the lyrics. I had a really REALLY hard time just looking at her. I dunno, after hearing Carrie Underwood sing it perfectly (which evokes goose bumps) I have a hard time thinking anyone really sings it right anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old

The song means a lot to me. I have been working for the US Air Force for 37 years now. I agree that it was horrible, but I just close my ears and open my heart !! Always brings moisture to my eyes...

Had she gone to my old HS she probably would have been thrown out.
