no need to apologize...we have people come on here almost everyday that are great new members and some that are not! Like I said before if the bracelet is solid and the case is solid I would think that with the price of gold the seller could probably do better than trying to sell the watch as a watch! Absolutely get the watch authenticated from the AD before you give any money!!

Something about the bracelt does not look right. An old 18k Jubilee (sp?) with no stretch?

A 179178 is a current production Lady's Datejust and with a President Bracelet and would look like this. It would not have a lug hole case and would come with the new style box and warranty card. The bracelet end links do not look OEM either.

This is an old ladies president. You can plainly see the curvature of the plastic crystal. It is worth more than scrap gold because it is not scrap gold, its a watch and the bracelet is in good condition. I saw someone had said that it bracelet is solid? How do you know? The president band has always had SEL so unless you held it in you hand and inspected it you wouldn't know if it is solid.

Better have it checked. I visited an AD yesterday and he told me a story about a scam which was tried this week on him. He said the fake was so good he was almost scamed. He reported to Police and found out it was part of a nationwide scam going around. Be careful folks, Hold onto your good hard earned money.

U have a 18k or 14k DJ there with a President Bracelet.
if a plastic crystal, is it a 14k? I am not sure. I am also not sure that the DJ was available on a President bracelet. Now we have to ask if the Bracelet is a true Rolex or a 18k Italian bracelet. I would approach with caution. |

looks ok, however this is not the model you state, it is much older it still has plastic crystal so it is model 6917 likely, non quickset, at least 25 years old, still agood watch but you can get one cheaper

I know a man's President bracelet contains 24 links from the factory. I count no fewer than 36 links in that bracelet. I don't know about the ladies' President bracelet, and not saying anything but that, but it's odd.

There are more links in there because the links are smaller than the men's DD.

All gold sometimes is not as popular in preowned market so price may be a bit more attractive.

Looks pretty good.
Either way, you still have to let it authenticated. |

I couldn't agree with you more, as i am a man(a real man). This watch is not for myself, it's for my fiance. She's 5 months pregnant and i try to keep her (bad)mood happy. I wouldn't be surprise that this watch is a 6917 not 179178 like the owner told me. It's look kind of old for the current model. I guess 6917 is running around $2000-$3000 so i guess the price is not "UNREAL" anymore. Actually, i think the price is "fake" and the watch maybe real. I'm going to meet her today at an AD and we'll see...i'll keep you guys posted.
