Chris, they are two excellent Rolex watches.
I like the diamond bezel and IMO the YM II has more 'presence' than most other Rolex.

Enjoy wearing them.

Great watch Chris. The Yatch-Master II now has a "Command Bezel". Rotating the bezel 90 degrees counter clockwise and pulling out the crown to the first position will allow you to use the crown to set the countdown time. The watch can be set to countdown from 1 minutes to 10 minutes. When set on zero, the watch does not countdown.

Once the countdown timer is set, the bezel is rotated back to its original position and the button at 2 o'clock can be used to start and stop the countdown timer which uses the main second hand and the short hand with a red and while triangle at the head. The button at 4 o'clock is used to reset the main second hand.

Programmable Countdown: You can program a countdown of 0 to 10 minutes. The process to be followed is quite simple. After ensuring that the countdown is stopped, turn the ring command bezel 90 degrees counter-clockwise. Afterwards, press the reset pusher and unscrew the winding crown to position one so that you can turn it to set the desired minute. Once you are done with this setting, rotate the bezel back to its position and also push and screw down the winding crown. During the starting sequences, it can be synchronized to the official countdown.

Synchronization: This functionality is important as it may happen that you have started the countdown too early or too late. In such a case, the watch allows you to synchronize without much hassle to the official signal (countdown). All you need to do is press the start/stop button to start the countdown and then press the reset button. Upon doing this, the minute countdown hand repositions itself to the nearest minute (forwards or backwards depending upon whether the official countdown started early or late), while the seconds countdown hand returns to 0

Thanks Jim! The functions do work as you've described them. Until one resets the watch back to 10 minutes, it will always reset to the chosen countdown. I had no idea the watch could do this as there is little info about it here, and the manual is in the box which is being mailed to me.

I don't own a boat and prefer stinkpots (I like to dive and fish). However, this function will be crucial for brewing the perfect pot of tea...

I've seen watches in pics that I have dismissed as tacky or simply not my look. Then I tried them on in person and went 'wow.' Sounds like you found a really nice connection with a spectacular watch that speaks to you. Congratulations.
