Remember Rolex was the first brand to invent the waterproof watch case.

My thoughts exactly.. safer on my wrist then in the safe which is why I'm currently debating..still....lol

I swam with a 120m rated IWC for years. No problem with hard swimming or down to 10-15m. It will be safer on your wrist than in the hotel room safe. If you must, use the hotel's safe. Just ask for the manager. That's what I do when I buy valuables on vacation.
BTW, an area watch repair guy can pressure test your watch to 100m in no time, probably drop off today, pick up tomorrow. Call around. It's worth the $50 he'll probably charge.
Of course, the obvious answer is to buy a Sea-Dweller or Submariner before you go.
I've been looking at Sub's for that reason but were buying a house right now so that isn't an option just yet lol

just wondering if the waterproofing should fail would that be covered under the warranty?
A lot of people recommend pressure testing yearly. Only your AD can really say whether or not a water leak 1year in would be covered under warranty. As far as I'm concerned either get it pressure tested to put your mind at ease or leave it at home and wear a casio or some such cheap crap that you don't care about.
Really your DJ should be fine swimming, snorkeling, etc.

I have had my Datejust for 26 years and I have never taken it off when swimming in any ocean, sea, lake, swimming pool, bathtub, shower and other wet environment.

Been swimming, snorkeling, and jumping off of boats into ocean, bouncing around in the surf, many times with my DJ, no problems ever.

I don't have diving experience of more than 5m, but anything less will NOT be a problem. The watch, I believe, is engineered in such a way that the pressure of the water will actually compress the seals, using the pressure to actually render it more water resistant. I don't think you'd need to worry and I think you'd enjoy taking it with you.

Good for you. And when you get back and have a quiet moment at your desk, you'll look at your watch and remember when you looked at it while swimming and snokelling in paradise.

I say go for it, Brandon! It's your honeymoon and I bet you'd be sorry if you didn't have it on while enjoying a swim!

We went to Mexico in October and I wore my Daytona in the ocean and pool without hesitation....and it's also rated to the depth as the DJ. No worries!

I swam with my DJ within the first 10 years i owned it without issue. It still wears and runs beautifully today, and there were no reported issues when it went to RSC for service a couple of years ago.

I swam in my datejust for two years before getting my Sub-C. My swims never included any breathing apparatus so I never worried about my DJ not holding up. Enjoy your time!!!!

WAIT! WAIT!!

In the particular body of water in the picture, i wouldnt risk your DJ. Actually, if I were you I would cancel...

I think waterproof in a Paradise like that, could be a concern!!! (Green with envy!!!)

Enjoy it safely!!!

Don't play with the crown underwater and your watch will be fine. It is far too young to need a service so the seals should be of no concern.

The best advice I can give you though is if you are going to constantly be concerned about the watch, just leave it home for something cheaper. You are there for your wedding and worrying about a watch should be pretty low on your list.

I can't understand how people buy rugged tool watches and then constantly worry about things as silly as washing their hands with it on. Your watch was expensive. It is also about as rugged as they come. Enjoy it for what it was made for and stop worrying. Those recommending you spend money to have a one year old watch rated to 100m pressure tested are nuts. The watch carries a 2 year warranty. If there is a failure of a seal on an unopened watch and the crown being loose was not the cause, it IS a warranty issue.

Go ahead and take dip. Personally I wouldn't be comfortable swimming with my DJ2 strictly from a comfort on my wrists sense .

It's a waterproof watch so I see no harm as others have said.

I have recently had 2 of my vintage watches go through a "complete" cleaning and overhaul by a very well respected watchmaker in the U.S. Now these 2 watches were vintage Seikos from the 1960"s in excellent shape. I asked him about exposing them to water (swimming etc.) and he very emphatically stated " I never have and never will expose any of my watches to water-period". He went on to say that applies to your Rolex watches as well. It takes 2 seconds to take your watch off before jumping into the water and that gives you some added piece of mind that your protecting your investment in every way possible. Likely good advice to possibly avoid an unnecessary problem should a gasket fail. I must admit, I have always exposed my watches to water with only one problem in about 40 years but I now practice what the watchmaker preached!

And I can't imagine myself wearing a watch that can't handle water. With all respect, this watchmaker in the US may be worried about his quality control, therefore, he gave you this advise - period.

I felt exactly as you feel. My watches went everywhere I went with only one moisture problem in years. I think what he was offering is cheap insurance to avoid that one time a problem might present itself. I don't think his quality control can be questioned at all. He normally has about a 5 to 6 month wait for servicing.
