I have the X and I am currently having some real strange problems......My upgrade isnt until september verizon said they will send me a new X but I was considering maybe buying either the new iphone or the thunderbolt. Not sure what to do yet. I think I might take the free X for now at least until I figure it out. But I am going into the store to get it because If they send you one for free it is a refurb not new. I am not sure which one I want yet a thunderbolt or a iphone? or just get the new X and then wait till my upgrade date

Well, I'm still in my two year contract when I got the iPhone 4. I was one of those people in line the day the iPhone 4 was released (along with Oscar as well, in fact we were texting each other lol). So, no new iPhone for me this year :(
However, I will definitely be buying the iPhone 6 next year, along with the iPad 3 :) |

i don't get the hype either. don't get me wrong, i'm an apple fan. i have all their stuff (imac, macbook air, ipods...). i've been an android fan after trying the iphone os. then my work 2 weeks ago decided to change my crackberry to the iphone 4. the ONLY thing i like about the iphone is the screen. simply georgous and it's built very solid. after using it i realize how much i love my droid incredible.
- miss swype..can't type any other way -notifications..can't believe ios lacks this - widgets - miss the back button - flick to scroll...ios stops. android keeps going regardless..people will line up. but i can honestly say now that android os is leaps and bounds better than ios. i hope they change ios 5 to have some of the android features. |

FWIW, there were some statements made by Apple yesterday that call into question the iPhone 5's use of LTE. If it is left out, that means you won't have talk and data at the same time w/Verizon in the 5 (or the faster speeds). Notifications are -the- most glaring inadequacy of the iOS platform. Luckily, Apple hired the guy who designed WebOS notifications away from Palm to fix it in iOS. That was nearly a year ago, so no telling how close they are to the new notification system. http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/09/p...tect-to-apple/ |

I am a week into my Thunderbolt and really like it. great phone. Here is a very interesting analysis on the iPhone / Android platform. Really shows how things can go one of two ways for Apple and the ball is still up in the air.

Actually, I've talked to four different people...and they have said that. I don't care about actual repair data. I'm going by what they said their experiences are. They also said that as long as they can use an HTC smartphone, they would prefer to over any other device.

I've actually got a choice coming up. I'm on Verizon, should my next phone be the Iphone, the Android, or a Blackberry?

I've been on Verizon and have an Andriod and it works great for me. I'm not an Apple hater at all...I just don't like the control they have on their stuff. I've had a few employees tell me that if you have a data plan with Verizon, you're locked in to that until you decide to change it. Even if you do an upgrade. With an iPhone if you upgrade and Apple has changed their packages, you're forced to go along with it when you upgrade. I'm just explaining it the way it the way it was to me. If I'm not mistaken, I think Apple did this with AT&T. Good luck

iPhone works great if you like the Apple experience. If you are happy with what they give you in terms of hardware and software. Blackberry still is good for email. It is not very good for Internet access. Android is great if you like choices. Each manufacturer has slightly different options. Plus with android you can root the phone and flash it, if that is your thing. At least you can with some of the phones.

i like the phone because i dont like to carry too many things in my pocket. one phone that includes my jukebox, emails, all the apps i need, etc.
the fact that due to a large customer base, i have the luxury of support and development of apps and third party accessories.

Blackberry is a very secure email phone. Many corporations use them because they are safe. My son works for a very large US accounting firm. One of the top 4. For years they only supported BB for their email. Since they are dealing with very sensitive information, it is important that no hackers be able to break in. The BB Messenger which is used on the phone is also highly secure.
If you noticed there was a lot of press lately about other countries wanting to ban BB because they could not break in and monitor the messages on the phone. BB somehow settled with those countries recently to keep from having their service shut down. I am not sure what was done. Since BB servers are in Canada, these countries were not able to get access. Recently my son's accounting firm has added the iPhone as one of the secure phones that can be used on their network. They are working on adding the Android system. So, in the future the BB system may not be that much of an advantage. The problem with BB is that the phones are all but worthless for internet usage. They are slow, (very slow) cannot seem to open attachments, and just do not have the kind of user interface that Android and Apple have. And, there are almost no Apps for them. |

Anyone have any suggestions on which are the best Android phones that will work internationally with Verizon as the SP?

I don't dispute that HTC makes a nice handset - they do. However, from the durability standpoint it's no contest. |

Just three short years ago BB was really the only phone for serious business users. When the iPhone came out it was initially considered a toy, a novelty for the Apple fanboys and fanatics. But that changed very quickly. I remember being at a meeting and needing to look up the location of a restaurant. While my BB browser was still loading the iPhone guy had already found the address.
BB syncs with Outlook and you are supposed to be able to sync across multiple computer etc. I never had a lot of luck with that. Recently I switched my email from Pop3 to IMAP. BB was never able to properly deal with that. My Thunderbolt does with no problem. Now my desktop, phone and laptop are all perfectly in sync. And, if I lose my phone...no big deal. The new one just syncs right up. I would imagine the same would be true with the iPhone on a IMAP system. Now, just three years later, most all corporations are integrating the iPhone, Android and the BB into their systems. Also the IMAP through Gmail allows for push email as opposed to pull. That had always been one of BB's claim to fame. So if you want a good phone experience that allows you to do business and have fun, then the iPhone or Android is the way to go. |
