I always thought I needed he date-I do check it numerous times a day when filling out records. But when I had my watch engraved it was away at RSC for almost two months and I survived very nicely with a nondate watch. The next watch I will consider doesn't have a date and that is fine with me.
Btw autocorrect changes "nondate" to "bondage"?!
Cheers!

I agree on the clean and symmetrical look. But a datewindow is helpful for me as I easily forget which date it is.

Date in nice to have and make life litte easy when you see date all time you need it. I have own all my life watches whit date so i am use to it.
Now i have buy my first no date watch Submariner 14060 and its nice that i dont need to change correct day to it ever other month.

So i say that day its nice to have if you really feel you really need it. Before i was thinking i need it but now after little time whit out it i dont feel that same.

Nah. Thats what my iPhone/Mac Pro/MacBook Pro is for.

I really prefer the clean and symmetrical look of a watch dial without, and it's reflected in my choices of Rolex watches..the Explorer and the Sub.

Simply put...yes. I need a date. Could I simply look at my phone or computer? Sure, but I can do that to tell the time too!

My Speedie does get substantial wrist time even without a date, but for business travel and daily wear, I prefer to have the date.

This is something I am trying to decide on right now. I have the date on my Expo II and find I check it daily when I am writing out checks and invoices so think I would miss it...But I am smitten with the 14060M and am wondering if I will miss the date feature too much. The other option is the 16610 but think the ND will fit my wrist more snuggly

Yes. I find myself looking for my phone or a desk calender when I want to quickly know the date. I am switching from a sub w/date to a daytona and its a hard habit to break. I did depend on it a lot.

Pretty foggy in HK sometimes..so the sundial's not so good. I hear Rolex is working on the "FOG-DWELLER" for the London and HK markets though

I wouldn't say I "need" it, heck - these days we don't really even "need" watches. Most of us have cell phones on us 24/7 that gives us accurate time :)

With that being said, I definitely prefer it. I often need to glance at my watch to get the date for various reasons, work related, estimate due dates for bills, filling out paperwork, etc... I guess you can say that I'd survive without a date on my watch, but I probably won't ever buy a watch without a date :)

I need the date. The fact that it changes in a heartbeat is priceless.

I need it for work filling out log books etc. I look at my watch for the date 20 times a day. Its not a life or death need but something I need from a watch nonetheless.

I have watches with and without a date. It is useful, but setting a watch with a date is always more involved. The large text in this thread is obnoxious.

Large text is obnoxious? That's really unnecessary, and not very nice.

Yes, it's considered screaming and rude.

I agree, it's unnecessary and not very nice to continue when being told.

I disagree. I'd say that using all capital letters is more along those lines. I notice several font size settings for our selection when posting, and don't see any rules regulating their use, especially at a reasonable "medium" size which may be more visible to certain members. Thanks for your opinion. In my opinion, criticizing others unnecessarily and calling them "obnoxious" is considered rude ... To each his own.

I agree, to a degree.... It is only yelling if written in UPPER case.

I used to be able to remember the date all day many years ago. Now, not so much. When my DJ is in for service, I wear my OP no date. At those times, I really miss the date feature. For me, a watch should be functional, and I consider the date to be an important function.

Yep...I guess it may be so for me sometime. To be honest, on the very 1st day that I got my Explorer, I was braggin' about how I didn't think I needed the date, and proclaimed "I know what date it is...It's the 10th!"...and it was the 11th Just found I got used to it after awhile though

On a message board, bold facing or increasing the size of one's text is akin to raising one's voice. Definitely not necessary and yes, obnoxious. Those who may have trouble reading text online have adjusted the font size on their browsers. Finally for those that are reading on a mobile device, they loose a lot of screen real estate to oversized text. I see at least three others in this thread that have complained about the text size, yet no one is saying everybody else's is too small. There is no need for the large text unless if your intention really is to yell at us.

I've been writing exactly like this for almost seven years now on various forums, and it seems to have worked out ok, my good man. Believe it or not, many have thanked me. Sorry if it's unsettling to you, but "C'est la vie" Everyone can't be happy all of the time. .

Fair enough. I'm gonna experiment with my text as well, I'm eager for a new look. However, if multiple people complain about it, I'll have the decency to acomodate them.

I have had an ExpII with date for 11 years and did not realize how much I expect the date to be there, until I got my SS Daytona. Now, a few times a day, I glance at my watch for the date, then remember and turn around to look at the wall calendar. So i don't need it, but I sure do miss it.

One of these days, maybe I'll look into getting a Tudor.
