That cape cod metal polishing cloth can work wonders with gold and ss. Makes everything look like new. Takes off light scratches. Also great for taking scratches off an acrylic crystal.

I admit it. I baby my Sub-C. I use Veraet Watch Spray, a soft toothbrush and warm water weekly. Then about once a month I will run the bracelet through an ultrasonic cleaner ($30). I'm sure it doesn't need all that, but heck it makes me happy!

For over ten years now I use a high quality Auto Detail Spray, and a micro fiber towel a couple times per week. The small amount of silicone in the detailer spray lubricates the bracelet, and the watch has a very nice clean sheen afterwards!! My AD always comments on how clean my watch is..... The crystal also seems to stay cleaner longer!
I do not know that you can go wrong with any of the suggestions.

Mine goes in the shower with me every morning. Every couple of months I'll take a childs toothbrush to it to get the grime out of the bracelet (just with soapy water) otherwise that's it I'm afraid.

I was under the impression taking watch in hot shower was not food for nice timepieces cause of the heated water.... Anyone know for sure on that??

Thanks!

It's definitely not food...not that good either

Seriously though...The thing about showering with watches is more one of "soapscum" between any and all cracks and crevasses from the heavily perfumed, oiled, ph balanced, etc etc etc type bath products. People regularly send me watches to customize that have been showered in daily, and I can tell you that the crud from the bath soap definitely accumulates. Best thing is to just wash occasionally with dishsoap and a soft toothbrush.

I'll be honest I'm careful about subjecting my watch to the extreme heat I become accustomed to in the shower. Steel isn't going to get any cleaner with any other method than soap and water. (other than sonic cleaning onlt because it reaches parts brushes can't)

I drop my GMT II in a glass of gin, let it sit for a few mins, stir it around with my finger. Them it goes into a fresh glass filled with pelligrino (sp). Looks brand new after that

Yes, I stir it, been doing this for about 8 years and it works great, that bubble water makes it sparkly clean afterwards

I've tried about every kind of soap I could find out there, and this to me has been the best: (from the website ;o)

"JOHNSON'S® HEAD-TO-TOE® Baby Wash - Bathe your baby in pure gentleness"

That, and a soft toothbrush and it comes out looking brand-spanking-new!!
