Hi, The escrow is just a wash IMHO. Look ,if you know the kinda money involoved in purchasing the Vintage Daytona then surely you can afford a trip to the most highend Rolex AD in your surrounding area?? Purchase it at the AD or visit the AD to get a hands on feel of a real Rolex New or Vintage then NOONE can pull a fast one on you! This forum is an excellent source for learning the ins and outs of Rolexes models but you need to hold and feel the watches too....

Mate
Please please please only buy from an AD unless you are as smart as James Dowling and can tell a copy fake from the real deal. Many people want to save a few dollars so they buy from second hand jewellers or over the net etc only to get burned and lose so much money and unhappiness. Some of the fakes are so good: they may use a rolex case or band with fake eta movement, or use true rolex movement on fake case. Or use true dial on fake watch. so many variants. REMEMBER: some AD dealers can not tell the difference if you want them to "ok" a watch. Only rolex service centre can. Even then, i would rather buy brand spaking new from AD. |

Thanks for your expert advice everyone. I will get to know everyone soon I hope as it is a pleasure to talk to you all.
In relation to the message that I posted earlier regarding my friend who purchased a Rolex Daytona, which had an all real 18k gold band and Case and an ETA Movement, but was not original from ROLEX, I saw him today and he is joining this forum and he is also going to get some advice from you guys. I have explained to him what goes on here, and he was very excited about joining. He is putting his watch for sale next week. See Its my Brother in Law and we were into Merc,s until we got sick of them (Not literally) so we now have them parked in our driveways and now talk about ROLEX watches. Can anyone advise me who is Sydney that I can go and see for a daytona watch. Or can anyone who is is Sydney leave me some details so that I can contact them. |

I am looking at buying the following watches from Ebay ( http://cgi.Ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....link:middle:au
and the following watch again ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AS-NEW-ONE-OW...QQcmdZViewItem Can someone look at them and tell me what you think, If they are originals and if they are worth the price. I have negotiated a price of USD$16,000.00 for both watches. Do you think this is fair value? Regards Angelos |

I would say take Nicko with you and pay him for his time to inspect the watches in person.
