I'd get a 16610, or a 14060M, or a late-model Explorer (36mm), or a Pepsi GMT II, or a steel Datejust. All used. Can't go wrong with any of these, IMO, it's basically a list of my favourite almost-current Rolexes!
Since I am an official grouch, I can't recommend any of the newer "steroid" Rolexes. |

quite a bit of sub date recommendations. i'd normally tell people to check out the classic gmt 2 because it's very similar to a sub date, and it's got the additional function movement. plus the 3 bezel inserts virtually make 3 watches in one. however, i'd have to tell people to start looking into the white dial explorer 2 now. go put one on at the ad, and you will understand what i am talking about. good luck with your search!
