Simple. If you're a big dude, go DSSD. Average to smaller, SD.

The price you're paying for the DS is better than the price on the SD. So resale value will be better with the DS. Assuming in 5-10 years the DS doesn't become considered a flop. :)

I own an SD & had the privilege of trying out a friend's DSSD for 1 week (to get the feel of the weight & size), he used my SD that week. After a week, I came to the conclusion that the DSSD was just to big & heavy for me! My advice, try wearing one for a while & see how it feels to you!

I far prefer the DSSD to the SD. Owned 2 SD ib the past, sold all my Rolex a couple of years ago for Panerai and the DSSD is the watch that had drawn me back to Rolex. I would be without it in my collection. Had it 25 days now and it hasn't left my wrist.

Both are awesome, but having owned a DEEP SEA, I would choose the Sea-Dweller if I was to choose between the two today.

DSSD is a white elephant, not an icon, IMO.
SD - now that's an icon. |

It's very amusing to read people complain about the weight of the DSSD, especially since women are wearing them (Charlize Theron).
Buying a last year's model "anything" will at one point make you wish you got the newer model, regardless of design, weight or thickness. Just keep that in mind when making your decision. |

I have 8" wrists and while I don't think the diameter is a problem, I do think the height is just retarded. Just my opinion of course. |

Only if you're terminally superficial and you value novelty over everything - in which case you shouldn't even be considering Rolex at all.

[QUOTE=Dan2010;2578339]I don't think ONE woman wearing a DSSD means WOMEN are wearing them in general.
Well maybe not where you live, but here in LA I have seen several wearing them. Charlize is the only one I could find a picture of. |

Sea Dweller. The DeepSea is an oversized caricature of a Rolex dive watch. Go with a known classic rather than the trendy flavor of the month.

I'd go with SD 4000 since the SDDS is too thick for me. Although the larger diameter is nice.

Rolex is not the brand for the buyer who cares more about novelty than design, because Rolex is conservative and changes designs very infrequently. |

I prefer "bigger" watches and between the DS and the SD, I would still get the SD. So much so that I purchased one earlier this month. =)
My usual everyday watch is a Panerai. Love the look and size but when I tried on the DS, it just didn't look nor feel right on the wrist. As with all things iconic, go with what defined it. SEA DWELLER! I've had mine on now for about 2 wks straight! |

Well, there is a way to get most of what the DeepSea offers in a more wearable size/height, it's called the Sub C.

SD, it's more comfortable for daily wear.
