Questions about my first Rolex
Hi, all.
I just bought my first Rolex, from an AD, a new Submariner with no date, and I'm an EXTREMELY happy camper right now! I thought I was insane when, after stepping out of the shower the morning after I bought it, I first put on the watch and then the rest of my clothes! I am greatly relieved to have found this site, as I feel the people on here probably understand this compulsion. I am a bit confused about the specifics of this watch, though. The warranty card just says "Style 14060", with no letters after it, but it looks like many of the references on the web about this watch have a letter after the number. Is this the correct way to refer to the watch among the cognoscenti, as a 14060? The dealer said it has a ceramic bezel, but the web seems to disagree, so I'm just not sure. Is this definitely a 2011 model? The watch does not seem to appear on the Rolex site, and I'm a bit confused as to what I have. It came with the green box/booklets/tags and such. Does it have a ceramic bezel? A new crystal or the old one? Any help you can provide regarding the details would be much appreciated, simply so I know what I have. I looked at a number of them at the dealer, the blue TT, a black/gold TT, and a black one with the date. I've always lusted after a Submariner, but IMO I thought the blue on the new ones was not as attractive to me as the previous blue, I didn't like the look of the black/gold TT for me, and I thought the date bubble on the SS Sub was just too big for my preference. I love the classic look of this watch, simple and elegant, and it is just the perfect one for me! A friend of mine looked at me strangely when I said the watch just called to me from the case, and I was also relieved to see that this is not an uncommon sentiment amongst other Rolex owners. I had done no research prior to buying it, because I really didn't expect to buy one at this time, but once I saw it I really didn't have a choice! Thanks for any help you can provide, and if you know when I will stop thinking about wearing a plastic bag over my wrist when I shower so I don't have to take it off (because of the soap, not the water), that would be great too! I'm also considering wrapping a sock around my wrist while I sleep... |
