I really really hope no one says Tim McCarver. He has to be the most annoying baseball announcer alive.

Phil Liggett has been the voice of the Ironman coverage on NBC for the past couple of years. He is the commenator for the Tour de France and has covered the Tour for the past 38 years. One of the best sports announcers hands down.

Plus Phil Liggett knows the sport so well it is actually astounding. I would like Joe Buck more but he has the dumb sidekick. I already mentioned him once in this thread and that was more than he deserves.

Ugh. Thats a tough one for me, that Joe Buck. He knows baseball and football well enough to provide endless random commentary (on and off-field info) and when I first remember hearing him do games I liked his voice and delivery, and his father was no broadcasting slouch either!

Maybe now that I'm older, more cynical, whatever, his delivery drives me nuts. Everything he says sounds so douchey and dramatic, when in reality its mundane (excluding the 2004 Red Sox WS win of course, then it made my spine tingle.....)

Hahaha, yea I used to enjoy him, but now I think he is a wind-up doll that says the same things verbatim that he said last year!

I knew the mother back then from the games, Rita. The sister of Jenn was killed in a car crash around here a few years ago. She was only 14 or so. The lady driving was sentenced to prison.

Dan, I know you are a cyclist--I am not, and I had ZERO interest in the Tour de France until I just happened to turn to Versus this year when it was on. The announcers immediately brought me into the drama in a way that I could actually understand. I'm hooked. I've recorded every stage sense. I'm not hopping on a bike--probably never, as basketball and football are more my style--but I am certain I will now be a lifelong fan of the Tour and will tune in every year, mainly because of those guys calling the race.

My favorite tennis player of all-time by far. I did enjoy listening him as an announcer when I tuned in. For some reason, tennis just isn't as compelling to me as it once was.

One thing I like about Aikman is he seems to downplay his accomplishments. He never comes across as arrogant despite his success on the field (and I'm a Redskins fan who hates the Cowboys!)

Now as for Johnny Miller, not quite as modest.

He can be annoying to many; however, he taught me a lot about the game when I was younger. Haven't listened to him in some time.

That was the greatest time in MNF--when it started it was just so magical it seemed the entire country tuned in.
