Hi James........I do have a weakness for lug holes on watches......but I am not a fan of the PP Nautilus.
But I do lust after the PP Calatrava 37mm 5127 in yellow gold.....ahhh curmudgeon bling.

I would also have to consider the service costs for a Patek and the turn around time when it is being serviced if I where to only have 1 vs 2 watches.

I personally wouldn't do it.
I agree with these comments. I'm sure Patek is an amazing watch builder, but they aren't known for being a maker of super tough, sport models. To me, it's a little like going to buy a Rolex and instead of buying an oyster case DJ or GMT, you buy a Cellini. Rolex built its reputation on tough, handsome, simple dress/sport or sport watches and not on super dressy watches.

Patek made its rep by creating very fine dress watches and very complicated dress watches. Why buy PP's simple sport model?

I guess the question is, will you still want the Daytona and Sub after you get your grail? Buying those two again could cost you more. If yes, then I'd say don't do the trade and save up. If no, do the trade.

Dang. I wish I was in your situation either way. I'd say go for it ONLY if you still have Rolex in your collection.

That Patek is a BIG grail for a lot of people, but if those were the only two Rolex you have, I'm not sure.

Great predicament to be in regardless.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. This is absolutely the best forum on the Internet. :-)
No trade, I'll just save up.

In the meantime I'll think about why I even want one. I think I'm just curious about the brand, the claimed quality and finish... but that's a lot of money to satisy my curiosity. :-/

you won't stray from the Wilsdorf fold

I'd do it...wasn't interested in the Nautilus till I tried one on, then I had to have it.

Subs & Daytonas are nice classic watches but IMO they aren't anything special. I'll probably see 3 subs on my train ride home from work.

patek is in a class by itself

I been collecting them for years,i have an older jumbo nautilus 3700/1 its a great watch, remember patek movement and value are the best in my opinion.
the patek you are interested is a great watch to wear every day it really strong ,also you be one of the few who have it .I am wearing a 5035 annual
calendar today, but if you could keep one daytona and get the patek would be better but going patek is in class by itself .
