The Audemars Piguet. That's why I love the Royal Oak because it came out the year I was born.

Well, you have a fine bunch of watches to go with your attires (sic).

Why not a Patek. As some TRF purists would say, a collection is a set of watches - say GMTs or Subs of various vintages Vs. an assortment. However, I like assortments.

Of what you mentioned...

For your 40th I think the PP Nautilus or AP Jumbo would be great. True classics!
I prefer the Jumbo..

I agree but I prefer the PP Nautilus. I'm also partial to my TT Sub C.

Wow!!
Advance happy BDay!!

My only advise is if there is the option of a Patek!!
Go for it it's a perfect 40th birthday gift especially coming from your wife, and someday you can pass it along to one of your kids (if you have one) and the sentimental value is HUGE!!

Good luck on your decision.

Surely just about any of those watches would suffice I don't see a proper dress watch in the bunch. That would be my pick, brand is up to you.

Thanks for all your replies. Now I guess I am leaning towards the AP RO Jumbo in SS or the PP Nautilus. Will keep you posted.

I'd add a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms to that collection.

Lovey and I are opting for a new villa. Not sure what I'll get her, though.

My current collection includes the following: Sea-Dweller, GMT Master 16753 Rootbeer, Daytona Black Dial (non-zenith), Tudor Chrono ref. 79280, Breitling Superocean Steelfish X-Plus, AP Royal Oak Jumbo ref. 5402 TT, AP Royal Oak Offshore ref. 15721, AP Royal Oak ref. 15300 Gold, IWC Ingenieur, IWC Ingenieur Mission Earth, Panerai PAM 127, Panerai PAM 196 and Panerai PAM 183.

I am leaning towards: AP ROO Diver, Patek Aquanaut or Nautilus, Vintage Submariner in Gold with Blue Dial, Panerai PAM 328, Vintage SS Submariner from my birth year 1972, AP RO Jumbo in SS or a TT SubC with Blue Dial.

I know these are too many options with too many price ranges and from one end of the spectrum to the other. However, I need some help from the most trusted source, you guys and gals.

Opinions?????

Thanks in advance.
I think a 1972 red Submariner would make a nice birthday present. Go vintage.

I would say Patek as you already have a Rolex, AP in your collection.

Check out rolex day date ii in platinum. It is really a special watch. I bought one for my hubby. He at first not like the idea of another day date and he too think the new 41 mm is out of proportion aginst his day dates. Guess which watch is on his wrist for the pass almost two weeks! I guess he loves it after all since the only other watch I seen him wearing for more than a week is his dssd. Good luck with your shopping and an early HappyBirthday greetings to you! .. Jennifer

Btw I did buy him a 5712 and a 5711 earlier however, both are not in action and I do not know why. Maybe too dressy for him? We play golf and swim everyday.

My vote is for the 116718 18ct GMT Master IIc. Classy enough for black tie, yet sporty enough for casual wear. To fall into that price range, however, it would have to be pre-owned.

Any 18ct YG 16618 Sub is fine too, but the GMT is much more "modern" on the wrist.

First of all thanks and welcome to TRF.

I do love that YG GMT, however, it's completely out of her price range.

Something with "40" in the reference number would be a way to go.
