Normally this piece of magnet is very strong, as I had hard time taking it off from the ladder I was using.

Now, I am thinking of getting a 5 times bigger magnet (10cmx5cmx4 cm), but do you think this will damage the watch, I am asking because I know that magnets can damage some stuff. I have always been bad at psychics and chemistry, sorry if this sound silly.

Also, do you have any idea on how to pull a watch from a tiny hole?
Do you have access to 18kg's of organic carrots and a cup of pumpkin seeds?

Good point, no one has mentioned that yet.

But me thinks he needs to get the watch first before filling the hole.

Ok, my golf ball retriever suggestion got panned....so if it's a Rolex, go buy some dynamite, put it in the hole, blow up house (from a distance), retrieve watch, dust off and wear on wrist.

thanks for the tips. The watch is oyster perpetual. It has been sitting there for the past month. I did not really care to take it from there, but next week i am going for a road trip, and on the way we will visit the inlaws. The watch is a gift from them, and I really feel obliged to wear it when visiting them.

It is not really in a hole, it is actually fallen down inside the huge wardrobe I have in my bed room. I usually put valuable belongings to a secret box like place on top my wardrobe. Normally I use ladder to climb up there to put the stuff, but as I was in a hurry, I used a small chair to put the watch and did not notice the gap between the wooden parts of the wardrobe and dropped the watch there. It is really hard to tell the exact location of it, even it took me a while to realize where it went after I heard to noise of watch falling down.

I am adding pictures so you would understand where it is exactly, and how stupid i feel when I noticed the watch is inside the wardrobe sidings.

Getting the wardrobe dismantled is really a big hassle as it is a really big one. I don't have enough space between the ceiling and the wardrobe to use a stick like tool to take it from there. I did all the inspection around the wardrobe and it is impossible to take the watch out without dismantling the whole thing in to pieces.

I don't want to damage the watch, so I eliminate the idea of using a bigger magnet. I will try to use some sticky pads as Chris B suggested.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Good luck, and I am sorry that I may have had some fun with this, but I hope you are able to figure out something to get that watch soon.

You must get something that is strong enough to direct, however flexible enough to pass into the opening and still clear your ceiling.
I think that a section of 10 or 12 gauge copper wire might do the trick.
Fashion the very end of the wire into a hook and also put a gentle curve in the wire.
By "torque-ing" the wire, you can steer it to your target and snare the watch.

Good luck

If my watch fell in the space between my bedroom cupboard and the wall, I would try to determine its exact height above the floor. (flashlight, mirror, string with weight, flexible tape measure etc.) Then I would carefully drill a 50-75mm hole with a hole saw, a safe distance above the watch. A piece of wire with a hook at the end should retrieve the watch through the hole. The hole can be "fixed" by putting the core back, and sticking a picture of a Rolex over the "damage".

Good luck, and keep us informed!

Christian

Edit: I would be scared to let the watch slip off the hook near the top of the cupboard, and falling a second time. Hence the hole near the bottom.

Can you tip the piece of furniture forward and flat to the ground, then get at it with a stick and duct tape?

That could make a serious mess of the cat.
