I wear a couple of Rolexes, Panerai's, JLC's, an Omega, a Breitling, and an IWC. I would wear a Patek, a Zenith, and many others too, but I don't have any of those yet.
Nothing wrong with a bit of variety, and a good many of them have alot to offer.

I wear Rolex and quite a few other brands but have never worn a Panerai.
I must admit I struggle with the re-issue Pams from 1993 which, until the in-house P2002 in 2005, still had ETA movements and yet ridiculous prices. There is also something about a brand being well known again primarily because Sly Stallone ordered a batch in 1995 inscribed Slytech to give to all his show biz pals to hype the brand....... But apart from this, I just find them too big and clunky and the "child like" display just looks odd and a bit ugly to me. But "horses for courses" and I would never say never..... The Rolex connection on the very early Pams interests me with the movement, crown and caseback made by Rolex which makes them more desirable but for me.....the newer ones are more style over substance unfortunately. |

Before I got a Rolex and found this forum my perception of Rolex was watches for loud-mouth show-off people with no sense of style. Since then I have revised this a bit but I still run into this kind of people. Panerai is more of a fashion watch with the larger cases.
And for the scientific aspect of the thread I own a Rolex but no Panerai. |

The ONLY reason I wear Rolex is for the movement.Panerai are far behind in this regard...at least now they are using some in house movements thoguh they are still very young..

I have both.......Sub 16610 and Pam 164. My 16610 is my true daily wear watch. It would certainly be the last one to go IF I had to sell them. I like the Pam for the different look and abundant options you have with straps etc. Basically, my 16610 is the the only bracelet watch I own and will ever wear. The oyster bracelet for me is the best looking and most comfortable. I like that the Pam has leather and rubber OEM straps and I have added 2 others since.

the non-in-house movements used in various Panerai watches is/can be as robust as those Rolex in-house movements

Rolex for me. I have seen the Pams in person and they are not for me. I don't 'get' them at all.

I never wore Panerai until this year. I have had various (too many) Rolex watches for 20+ years, and find it a nice change to have a PAM in the mix. Both great watches, and both wear different for various days/moods.

Pams are a little large for my wrist size. Anything more than 40mm is too large for me.
I have nothing against the design but do favour Rolex over it for multiple reasons. However I may consider if they produce 40mm specimens.

I have a SS Sub C and a Breitling Super Avenger. I'm torn between a SS Black Daytona or a Pam next... I was originally leaning towards the Pam, but I find my self leaning towards the Daytona now and maybe picking up a Pam down the road. I think it would be a well rounded collection at that point. A little bit of everything....

Another thing is that I don't like Italian 'engineering'....again Seiko and Rolex are my two top choices since they power every single watch they produce with a reliable in house movement... |

I wear a Rolex, Omega, and Panerai.
I have a 6.75 inch wrist and my 44MM PAM 005 has been stealing all the wrist time in the past few weeks. I love wearing it on the OEM rubber strap. |
