Xactly. One for the safe. Next time I do the monthly wind I will take a side by side shot. No real difference I can see. I like knowing there is another one in the wings. I just can't wear a smaller watch now. I know there are larger watches but other than the YMII (I am not a boat owner so that's out) it's the biggest baddest ( and non blingy) Rolex. A smaller 40mm Rolex would feel weak at this point.

THICK? The entire watch is THICK. There are many quartz watches out there that are so thin your pulse will disturb their movement. It is so high that you have to check the weather so it doesn't blow over. Too large of a face? It is so large that it stops cars if the sun hits it in the wrong direction from the glare.
The lady datejust is an option for a smaller wear.
I personally want to wear a watch that say's what it looks like and looks like what it say's. Yeah it's THICK.

The DSSD was my first Rolex. Over the last year, I have had desk dive marks occupy several links on the band. I stole my wife's David Yurman "polishing" clothes and have hand good success buffing out and polishing up the band. Pics to come soon.

i shut up shop for the afternoon just to travel to an AD & try a DSSD on, we couldn't reach a cash deal so the following week i closed again & managed to bag one BNIB from another AD with 10% off....easily the most comfortable watch in my collection & the one that gets the most wear too

Must admit i loved the dssd from day one ,quite a few didnt like it but i think now the general feeling is its one hell of a watch.I got mine mid 2010,i had just dropped on an sd at the time and was really chuffed to own a grail.The dssd was always there and i promised myself i would own one one day,then the chance of a bnib dssd came along and i though sod it! I took the plunge and dare not tell the wife how much ,but when i look back at what i paid and what they are now im so glad i did,i dont think i could afford one now.heres my 2 faves
