Consider buying a pre loved Rolex GMT. There are plenty in NYC shops in Manhattan, or consider a trusted seller on TRf. You are almost there! IMO nothing wrong with financing when you get 0 % apr . As long as one can afford the monthly payments you get to keep your cash on hand and get the watch you want with no interest unlike a credit card.

Whatever, it's a Rolex forum; people make money fast here. The important thing is that he's on here asking for advice on how to spend it.

Do *NOT* buy a watch on your credit card unless you intend to pay off the balance in 30 days. Save up or 0% finance it. Good luck mate.

i thought i explained myself on what i do anyway i have a client that told me he knows someone in the diamond district i just have to wait until after the Holidays because of the spike in sales. honestly this is madding financing of saving??????? my thing is you never know what the future holds and i don't want to end up can't finish paying off for my watch that's going to brake my heart. honestly i'm a little disappointed but it is what it is.......... i want something and it seems out of my reach..... i feel like giving up.

Don't give up! I waited a year to make sure the GMT IIc was right for me. Sometimes when it's the right watch you just have to be patient.... Easier said than done; I know.

I just dont.......??????? Well lets put it this way I want when people look at my wrist they admire and give me complements.
I would only buy a watch because I want it and appreciate wearing it. I find 99.9% of people never even notice what watch you wear.
If you are buying a watch to gain compliments from others I feel it will only lead to disappointment. Why do you care about that?...
I also agree with many others here. Save up, research, buy quality and buy outright. No debt. If you can't afford it. You can't afford it.
Good luck.
The GMT is a great watch with a long and interesting aviation history, have a read up on this great site, lots of threads.

Buy what you love. If that means waiting and saving, then wait and save, because buying anything else will just leave you wishing you had what you love instead.

As for resale value, if you got a decent deal on a used GMT, and didn't beat the heck out of it, you could always sell it without a loss. If you are buying new, then assume maybe a 25% loss if you resold.

As for financing, I personally waited until I was comfortable before buying such a luxury item. However, if you are disciplined, there is an argument to be made for financing. Rolex prices are always increasing, usually at a rate higher than current borrowing rates (don't use a credit card - get a line of credit). One could argue it's cheaper to buy now than to wait and save. However I would only recommend this if you had a steady income with the discipline to pay it off relatively quickly. If you ever got into trouble then you could always sell the watch. Again, not something I would feel too comfortable doing, but it's not a terrible idea either.

How about an Omega Speedmaster or Seamaster? Both terrific watches and almost as iconic as Rolex. And within your budget, I think. Or save a bit more....

Welcome to the forum. My advice for you is patience. I'm a young guy like you, and I too was quickly enamored with the brand - but I've used this forum as a resource to learn about Rolex (and watches in general) while saving for my GMTIIC. I'll be making my purchase in cash this May after saving monthly for approx one year.

I think you'll enjoy learning about the brand/models while you save for the watch you want. When the time comes, you'll know you made a great decision on all levels. Good luck!

x2! Couldn't have said it better. My best advice is, don't give up on a $3000 watch and end up getting a $1000 watch that you think is OK. Nothing at all would be better than a $1000 reminder of what you don't have!

You don't want to end up like one of my friends, with 2 Bulovas and a low-end Tag, wondering why you didn't just save up and buy one awesome watch. (Nothing against Bulovas and Tags if that's your thing)

You can find that same GMT used for around $6500 with box, COSC cert and tags. Keep saving your money and buy what you want. If you settle on second best, it will never be what you wanted in the first place. The great thing about buying a Rolex is anyone will buy it back from you. It's like wearing money on your wrist...

Mayors sometimes offer 20 months no interst but you will pay full msrp.
I bought my GMTIIC fom a smaller jeweler with a discount and some interest free financing. Great watch! Best of luck you you. I hope you achieve your goal quickly.

That's kind of random. Case as in Box, or Case that holds the movement?

I believe 20 months no interest is for non-sport watches. You can only do 10 months no interest for sport models (SubC, GMTIIC). I don't really see a problem with financing as long as you can deal with the payment and budget every month. At least my Mayors wouldn't discount a GMTIIC or Sub C so financing was a good option. I know my income and know my monthly expenses. Financing can be done responsibly but don't put yourself in a position where you can't make payments.

IF you choose to finance, make sure the payments are on time. The interest actually starts accruing the day you buy it. Miss a payment or don't pay off in full within the given period and you are hit with the full interest amount (Mayors actually has a website where you can set up automatic payments or key in the amount you want). I don't regret that I financed my SubC, it but I think this time around the better option is to buy off a seller on this forum. I hope this helps you and good luck!

Man, that's vintage. If you just bought it you must want to use it as a project watch? It's going to cost you a lot of time and money to piece that together. Going to be difficult.
