Never lost a Rolex watch, but have lost a tiny Rolex part. After a night of heavy drinking, I realized that my Sub 1680 bezel popped off. I was sober enough to pick up the bezel but forgot to look for the flat spring behind it. Next day I was kicking myself. Going back to take a peek at the spot wouldnt hurt. No luck. Then I decided to take a look at the spot where we sat. I looked down and the spring was right by my foot. In and out in 5 mins. Should have gotten a lotto ticket that day.

To the OP, I'm sorry one ... uh... "person" is intent on ruining it, I thought the title was interesting. And to add, never lost my Rolex, but I DID have a gun that was stolen out of my house returned, Police found it during a routine check when a Pawn Shop bought it. No arrests were ever made that I know if.

In college I lost my new Datejust SS during a motorcycle accident. I low-sided on some gravel or oil in back-wood country twisties. The watch flew off my wrist during the crash. Luckily I wasn't too injured and was able to ride the motorcycle home.

When I got home, I realized my watch was gone.

My gf at the time and I went back to the crash scene (sun light was quickly fading) and she found my Rolex about 50 feet away in a bush! lol.

Miraculously it was completely unharmed without a single scratch.

I was very lucky and yes this is all true.

I haven't lost a Rolex of my own (thankfully), but I did have a customer have one returned to him 15 years after it was stolen recently. It was sent in to Rolex for a service, the system picked up the red flags, and Rolex informed us. We let the chap know, and he was reunited with it. You should have seen the smile on his face

WOW! I have never lost anything permanently, but I have lost my class ring twice and both times it was returned to me.

In return, every time I have found a wallet or purse, which has been several. I go into the store nearest where I found the wallet, and have them watch while I open it, get the phone number and call the owner. The owners were so greatful!

I could NOT IMAGINE trying to judge someone without knowing them to decide if they are "worthy" of getting their property back.

It was their property and it is dishonest to keep something that doesn't belong to you without trying to return it to the proper owner.

Fortunately, the few times I have lost something, someone honest always returns it. I think Karma will get you if you are dishonest!

I found a briefcase in my office once. I opened it up to see who it blonged to. I found $10k in cash. Luckily the owner had a business card in his briefcase. I called him up and returned everything to him. He didn't even say thanks, but I was happy in my heart and that's all that matters.

What did the person who brought the watch in for service have to say?

i had my house broken into while out of town. had 3 rolexes, a panerai, a ball watch, and many other non watch items stolen. went through the normal motions of filing police reports and submitting them with serials to rolex. out of the blue, about 2 months later, i get a call from rolex saying someone went to a service center with one of my watches. they put me in touch with the person, and we get to talking, and come to find out he purchased another one of my rolexes at the store. the store agrees to give him a refund, and he agrees to 'transfer ownership' back to me. i miraculously recover 2 rolexes i thought i would never ever ever ever see again. maybe the other one will turn up one day too.... i would definitely say that i am in the minority, and very very very lucky.

My don't you contact Fidel. He is still alive and owns a Rolex. Maybe he knows who has Che's Rolex! If a CIA agent did take it, he probably traded it with J. Edgar who probably gave him a Timex in exchange - or maybe Richard Nixon got it, or _______________ Oh, never mind, it's late and I'm brain dead!!

The conventional thinking is that Felix has never been the thoughtful, compassionate type...but then he was a CIA man in central/south America...so probably just what they needed.

I work for a store that had one recovered by an RSC. The serial had been reported beforehand.

It took 8 years of legal wrangling to get it. The watch was turned over the police, who held it until the charges were settled and the paperwork done. Then they notified the owner of the store and shipped it to him (by which time it had been sitting so long it needed a full service). That was the only one ever recovered, and it was only seized because it had been sent to RSC for service.
